Just came across this video apparently shot April 22:
http://2.upload.dailymotion.com/tag/aut ... test-drive
I took a quick look and it didn't appear to be mentioned here so hope I am not repeating someone else's post.
They say: "Duration: 02:29 Taken: 22 April 2007 Location: Japan Visit us at
http://www.nihoncar.com to download the HD Version of this video and access to our review and photo gallery"
What was he driving?

Hi,
Was that a Delica? Really? Its not even forward control! It looks like a Honda. Glad I got my Deli when I did.
And , come to think of it, I wasn't very scared when he negotiated those two enormous 2 foot (wide) puddles. Sheesh! I think these guys need to get us to shoot a video for them. Even a video of Adam parking at the 7-11 would be more interesting. There would more sllush in his slurpee cup than was in those puddles. I think we have seen the last real Delicas. Hmmmph.
But thanks for posting the video anyway. Makes me feel a bit smug about my '89 P25 tin goat.

Good Morning John,
I just noticed that your a new member to the forum. We have a special page where new members can chime in, immediately after which, other members will gush effusively! Its all very warm and fuzzy here, to say the least, but that's just to make up for that vague sense of remoteness you get when you import a car and then try and find a replacement ash tray lamp.
Look here:
viewforum.php?f=20
Oh yeah! And welcome to the forum ( gush #1 ). Do you have a Delica? Got pics? Maybe a Jade on Slate Delica with Moraine Lake in the background? That would be good for a Delica ad. Or two tone gray, shot looking east across 3000 miles of prairie with a storm in the background... with lightning. Where's my camera?!?

I also wondered about whether it was a Delica until I saw it written on it. I was not suprised at all by the "gruelling" course. Having lived in Tokyo, and presently living in a town with a giant Japanese subculture, it made sense in the same way it was no suprise to me that used 1991 Delica's would be in such great shape, and in a way the video serves to help us understand why that is. When I went to UBC our Asian studies professor used to point out to us that there is almost nowhere in Japan you can go and let out a howl of angst that will not be heard by someone else, to that end perhaps it is suprising they could find the land they did to make their video.
Anyway my young significant other, who is also Asian, just informed me that it would probably be easier for us to go back to living in the South China Sea on the Island of Palawan as we used to, whereupon we could purchase this 2003 LHD Delica for about CAD $5,400.00 and forget the rest of the hassles (no chance lady, I just spend a fortune on your new AT skis and drysuit that both need cold climes). It is here:

BTW, "SUPER LAMIG" means "super cold", and "SASAKYAN NALANG" means "ready to go", N. Fairview is a 'burb of Manila in Quezon City, and the seller, who also has another Delica for sale, appears to be in the USA and only has a feedback history of 4 which was totally comprised of purchasing auto parts from others.

that is the new Delica D:5... new for 2007 (or 2008?) in Japan... it's 2 generations beyond our L300 models we have here... personally I find the L400 (available after about 1994) and D:5 look a lot like every other mini-van on the road... but that's just me... they're still amazingly practical vehicles though!
(and for those who are curious, I believe the L300 is still in production, or at least it was up until a year or 2 ago, but after 1994 or so they really only came in pretty stripped down models)
we could purchase this 2003 LHD Delica
wow... that's some form of conversion to LHD... note the gear shift and parking brake are still on the right... (the Delica DID come in LHD, but I don't think this was one of them...)

I am definatly an L300 kind of guy... I never wanted to be a minivan owner, and for some reason no one thinks the L300 is really a minivan (myself included).
Yup, I'll stick to the tough rigid L300, not a sissy mitsu minivan (of course thats just my take, seems a lot of people fall for the L400 and many more will prob fall for the new one also).

Yep, give me the l300 and strip away the plastic. How else are we gonna add more steel when we bend stuff.
