Buying decision....

Hi all,
So I test drove 3 5 speed L-300 over the week end and I do have a favorite but there are just a couple of things I could use some input on. It's a 92 exceed with crystal roof and 88000k, looks very clean with no rust and very little oil seepage anywhere, it drives fine with no smoke and seems to have normal power (compared 2 the 2 other ones) but:
-It was louder than the other ones and after a quick look the exhaust looks a bit tired so that should be easy to fix.
-There is also more idle vibration tan the other ones. I am suspecting replacing the engine mounts would help a lot (hasn't been done), anything else than the injector cleaning and timing adjustment that could help with that (the fuel pump was "done" recently)
-The last thing that was different from the other ones was some sort of 'chirping'/whistling' (not just the normal turbo whine) during acceleration, similar sound to the sound that comes from the older VW bug if you see what I mean. It doesn't sound too worrying by itself but I haven't heard it on the 2 other ones.

Anyways, I am hoping to close the deal over the phone tonight so any input would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Eric

Hi
I have a '90 Exceed 5 speed manual tranny.
It has that sound you described as well. I haven't had any worries
and after changing from a 0-40 synth to 15/40 on sunday oil,
a lot of those sounds muted right down.

It's had the timing belt and all those components replaced
running good and I believe it to be pretty trustworthy.

Go with your gut on it I think
