Camping - Easter Weekend!

All right folks, we've all been stuck inside in the cold far too long - time to go camping on this great island of ours! We have some major cabin fever going on and the meet at Rathtrevor on the weekend just confirmed that, plus looking at the pictures from the Vancouver contingent!

When: April 10th - 13th (Easter weekend) - being a government slave, I get a 4 day weekend, but take whatever days you can manage!
Where: Campbell River? Port Alberni? other suggestions?

Everyone seemed to like the spot we found last year at Thanksgiving (Orchard Grove) because it had a pretty big open area to circle the wagons, but open to other suggestions. There is a big fairly open spot in Port Alberni on Great Central Lake, the spot we went to last May long on Sproat Lake (pretty but harder to circle the wagons - lots of yahoos last time), or ????

We could do a potluck on the Saturday nite if everyone is in agreement. That would give folks lots of options for getting there. (wherever there ends up being!)

We'll bring the big house, wood stove, maybe the shower, depending on what space we have, the dogs (of course), and NO Princesses or Princes!

Chime in with your ideas!

If I recall last year a bunch of the LMD crew went on the Island for Easter weekend, had a great time at Sproat Lake!

So how about this year the Island crew cross over the mainland for the long weekend? Just a suggestion 'cause we've started organizing the long weekend to go camping in the Okanagan Valley...

Possible?

Hi IslandFolk,

Lower Mainland Easter CampFest location not finalized yet, Kamloops or Shuswap area. But must be on our side of the ocean, as Delicat and his baby boy will continue along the Trans Canada Hiqhway on a "Boys Road Trip" to Montreal.

Of course, any Island Folk can stay at our cottage in Burnaby before or after the trip so ferry schedules work (and we can pick up walk-ons at Horseshoe Bay).

K&B you can leave a trailer of gear in our back yard in advance.

I will work on the final details this week, and post for all.

Cheers, Christine.

I could be convinced into camping. Alberni area would work for me had fun last time. Found CR alot of driving just to get there, had some nice country mind you. Would go there for a week or something more than a weekend. Would not say no to running into mainland crew either. my two bits

checking into the cost of a trip to the mainland for the bushbunny and trailer - looking at around $170 return for the ferry! I know, I know, you guys came over here, but I'm thinking that if we're going to spend that kind of dough to leave our beloved island, we'll make it in the summer (if it ever gets here) and combine a deli meet with a trip down to Washington to Cabella's in Lacey to do a little shopping. We've been wanting to purchase a woodstove from there and who knows what else we'll see once we go!

so, still planning an Easter weekend camp on the island, and probably a mainland trip in July or August. Let us know if you're into it!
