May I join in?
I've fallen in love with Delica the first time I saw it. Since that moment I've been dreaming about it. It was in the beginning of 90`s.... Now let me introduce myself & my DELICA. We are a little bit crazy family because we have TWO! The first one 1992, P35W, 4D56 turbo diesel, Exceed, was bought in 2003. It has now more than 250000 km on its odometer. Now my wife drives it. Another one is 1997, P35W, 4D56 turbo diesel, Active World. Bought a year ago.
We live in the far east of Russia – Vladivostok. Here in Russia we also have Delica Fan Club http://www.delicaclub.ru A week ago I found your site, so I'm very glad to know that there are delicalovers across the ocean.

Wow! Thanks for your warm greeting! By the way, what time is it now in Canada? I have a question. How do you get Delicas in Canada? We, in Russia not long time ago could order it directly from Japan. (Mine was bought that way.) It is still possible now but, customs are much too high.

Currently it is 23:45. In British Columbia (BC), which is on the west coast of Canada our time is GMT (UTC) - 8hrs.
To purchase a Delica in Canada the vehicle must be 15 years old ~ the '94's are coming out this year in Canada. We pay duties & taxes to get them in but as they are such good vehicles and as they are selling for so cheap in Japan there is a lot of room for affording them. To buy anything remotely comparable in the domestic market would cost four times as much.

Re: May I join in?
My first one I bought in 2003 it had 142400 km & cost me 4500 usd. By that time it ran 2 years in Russia. Those were the days! Another one I odered from Japan in 2007, it had 98000km, cost me about 10000 usd, 6700 usd were the duties. But nowadays the duties raised so high, that you cant`t buy it less than 20000 usd.

Привет NAKAMI!
Welcome to the club, добро пожаловать!
I am a member of delicaclub.ru as well and I think our clubs compliment each other; people with different mentality are having so much in common when it comes to Delica's.
. I worked on Sakhalin in 1980 when I was in the university.
Falco, I knew you were hiding your Russian language skills but this time you really surprised me
NAKAMI, feel free to PM or email me in Russian if you have more questions and feel more comfortable communicationg in Russian.

I am sure Konadog meant Sakhalin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakhalin, although Salikan is easier to pronounceMy brother did some work on Salikan

Re: May I join in?
Здравствуйте!
Vladivostok? Home of the Pacific Fleet and bunch of universities (half-a-dozen, if I remember correctly)? I visited Vlad in 1990 with the Canadian Navy (first visit since WWII), and have many fond memories of my time in your city. Always wanted to return someday to see how things have changed - it was still a 'closed' city when I was there. One thing I learned very quickly was there were 'Soviets' and there were 'Russians', and there weren't too many people we spoke with who would admit to being 'soviets'.
Anyways, enough of my boring trip down memory lane, welcome to the group. Of course you can join us! Have you named your van?
And finally, in response to your question, we are 18 hours BEHIND you.

You wouldn`t belive that, but I do remember that Canadian Navy visit to Vladivostok. It was september 1990 if I`m not mistaken. For us it was an event of intergalactical significance. Look at this photo I guess it is Canadian Navy? By the way, if you want to look at Vlad look here: http://forums.drom.ru/vladivostok/t1150897832.htmmararmeisto wrote:Здравствуйте!

Re: May I join in?
Actually, that is an American ship, and they did visit in September of that same year, AFTER we had been there for Victory Day. I was also fortunate enough to see the reciprocal visit of the Russian Navy, in 1994, to Halifax, Nova Scotia.NAKAMI wrote:You wouldn`t belive that, but I do remember that Canadian Navy visit to Vladivostok. Yes, of course! And they thought we were so handsome, what with our soap and toothpaste and colonge. I can remember spending a good bit of my pay on toiletries I never ended up using... but it was all worth it. Wonderful port visit. As I've said, always wished to return some day.
