You could just dip your nuts in some gun-blue or black, its like a metal dye similar but don't think quite the same as anodized.
http://www.vansgunblue.com/
for example, gun shop or outdoor shop should have it

Golf Cart probably has some in his glove box :-D

You could always dip your nuts after you blast them!
Oh the material writes itself!

Have fun playing with ..
Right on! 8-)

Luna Sea,

You have to cook your nuts after you dip them. I recommend a toaster oven. You will have to peel off the chrome, as its the cracks in the chrome that are letting in water to the metal.

And I swapped out the gun blueing bottle for Hoppies #9 :-D

{ Edit: JrMan - If its just a light rusting, you can always use 0000 steel wool , and then lightly oil them }

So, let me see if I've got this correct: blast my nuts, then dip 'em, and then cook 'em. I don't know what kind of club you guys belong to, but I thought this was a vehicle club!

Seriously though, how does it look afterwards? I've got some nice rims with black detail at the centre, and I'm thinking I just might do my nuts.

As an ex Bisley Team member (1983 - Jr Team representing Canada) - I remember Hoppes very well indeed. I don't think I'm looking for anything as exotic as gun bluing my nuts - though my wife may disagree from time to time. I'm thinking a cheap little can of black spray paint will be all that I need!
Love the suggestions all the same!
Cheers.

All nut Jokes aside, paint will just chip off when you tighten em, the blueing stuff soaks into the metal.
I guess you could touch em up with paint after you torque em up (100 ft pds right?)

the fate of your nuts is in your hands!
(can't help it) :o

Right on! 8-)

I was once painting an aircraft hanger, and while I was there I saw this signwriter painting a logo on the tail fin of a beaver. Having been a signwriter myself I had to tell the guy that he was doing an exemplary job of it. He replied to me that at 10,000 feet and at 220 knots it really did look good!

Moral to the story: Get a really good "Direct To Metal" spray bomb; then coat your nuts with several light coats, don't get all excited and try to make it cover in the first coat, take your time and feather your nuts with a nice light fan (of paint). This will give the paint a really good "anchor" and it should hold up up pretty well when it comes to torquing, especially if you give your nuts time to cure ~ and believe me ~ cured nuts are way better than cooked nuts, especially when they get salt on them. I would also recommend using the correct socket to put over your nuts because a proper fit will prevent chafing on your nuts when you reef on your socket tool :? . If there are scratches on your nuts after you have torqued them then you can always touch them up again with a little brush and I guarantee you that all the girls (and maybe some of the guys) will watch you as you drive by in total admiration of your lovely black nuts.

Have I made myself clear on this matter?

Falco.

After thinking about the pros and cons of painting and the pros and cons of all the locally available black lug nuts/locking nuts, I ordered this: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... toview=sku

Sweet, although I half expected you to have a black van to go along with the rim nuts... sorry, that's nuts and rims. The rims do look a lot better than the flaky-clear-coat-teardrops that a lot of these are showing up with. I'm glad I got a set of "Das Beste auf Der Welde" with the Moon Machine. A set of those nuts would go nice with mine.

Do you have a half-and-half or just all-white van?
