brake pedal operated release cable

Heads Up. This A.M I fired up our Deli - below freezing in Van. last few days- applied brake pressure to shift into reverse and heard a snap from the brake pedal area. The shifter release button would not push in. Upon further inspection I found the release cable barrel end had come out of the plastic fitting attached to the brake pedal. After a short consultation with the good guys at CVI I found the release cable had frozen insite it's sheath and when the brake pedal moved, the cable didn't. It's easy to reconnect the cable barrel end and strengthen it a bit with some tie wraps. I unloaded a whole bottle of lock deicer into the cable sheath and the whole thing works great now. If your Deli is new to freezing temperatures it may be a good idea to locate this cable - just to the left of the steering column facing forward - and slowly drip some lock deicer fluid inside the sheath.

Hi DeltaDeli, wow, EVERYONE should print this to keep with their repair info.

I am gonna go look at that cable now, so I know where it is, and put some tie-straps in my tool kit.

Thanks, Christine.
