New to this forum, just spent 10 days on Vacouver Island and saw Delicas all over the place. Being from Washington yet seeing a few Delicas in the US, Wyoming, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas... just wondering how they got them in the states.

I WANT ONE>>>> so bad.... so just looking for some help or info.

Thanks,

Short answer: you can't. Please consult U.S. vehicle import laws to find out why. We can import 15 year old vehicles in Canada. In the U.S. it's 25 years. If you ever find any answers, please let us know. This comes up a lot.

The only L300s in the U.S. are either owned by tourists, or are the Mitsubishi Van Wagons that were sold in the late 1980s.

Unfortunately you'll have to settle for one of the 2WD versions which were sold domestically in the USA between '86 and '89 (or sometime around those years). There is a fellow out east who found one languishing on the side of the road with a poster board advertising plumbing service - he rescued it!

Otherwise, due to import restrictions in your country, you'd have to settle for a 1983 model (which is the version before the ones you see driving by). While we have a 15-yr import restriction here in Canada, it's 25 years south of the border - it's a protectionist measure.

You'll probably find this post from AlpineCowboy informative, he's another southerner (as in south of the border) who was keen on getting a deli.
