Squeal on turns apparently from front of Delica

Hi my l300 1991 Super Exceed has developed a high pitched squeal when cornering in town .It happens with right and left turns ,does not seem to happen on the highway at 80 kph or for that matter on more gradual turns . It does not occur at any speed when driving straight ahead . The hub temps appear normal . I have tried running in 4 Hi for a few kms .Any thoughts ?

if it happens on very smooth surface like concrete it usually indicates toe/in toe/out or camber needs adjusting a wheel alignment may be in order........good luck.

These vehicles do not have a centre differential, therefore any driving in 4wd will cause problems when on pavement. in extreme circumstances it can damage the drivetrain, though frequently it will show up as binding or squeeling while trying to turn.

Just a quick check on the brake pad sensors? They do squeak or squeal to let you know it needs attention.

Tires touching the mud flaps, only happens on sharp turns, only on front tire where flap has a curvy bend, but ours makes more of a grating sound due to gravel caught in our tires. Check for rub marks on the flap. Christine.

I'm not terribly mechanical, but this is my guess as well, as I've seen this happen with other vehicles, especially older ones.

Mike, email Glen at ccautos in Coombs. He'll know, and he'll probably have the part as he has used parts, and new stuff. Do it soon, when we were last there, he was booking appointments 2 weeks ahead, as they are so popular (specialize in Delica). email ccautos@telus.net

Good luck, Christine.

Check the power steering.

I assume you can tell the difference between squealing tires and squealing belts?

The squeal problem has been solved ! I had removed the sunfaded curtains from my Super Exceed but had left the sliding attachments in the tracks------- These were sliding from side to side as the Delica cornered causing the metal track above and below the rear window to resonate at a fairly high pitched tone! They have now been immobilised with elastics ! Thanks to all who responded to my post ! !

 :-D Just assumed noise was from the front. Should have asked! Glad you got it sorted cheaply.

Thanks for your thread! I have a similar high pitch reverb at about 80 klicks. I'll try your elastic trick to see if it solves my problem.
