It's going to be an on-going process

One thing to note since I haven't heard anyone else talking about it at all.

Upgrading tires from 225 - 235 - 30's - 31's

+ You will gain some ground clearance
+ The ride 'can' be softer depending on sidewall construction/psi,etc...
+ The overall RPM will go lower
+ higher combined load rating
+ cool factor for some people

- You will loose top-end speed
- acceleration will drop considerably
** The shift points will be worse (ie. normally when you're doing 110 and it kicks down, now it will kick down at 90)
- Change your gearing/ratio (ie. when in 4x4 L 'low' crawling down a steep grade doing 2 km/h, now you will be doing 6-8 km/h with engine braking)
- Fuel consumption changes (ie. more mass rotation/more weight/rolling resistance) your fuel economy will get worse

Just some points for anyone thinking of going 'bigger' and getting 31" tires or larger.

I can deal with most of the -'s but ** the shifts points are a major annoyance/frustration. I can't stand it when I have to feather the throttle to keep from downshifting and loosing highway speed at the same time. That really sucks.

This wasn't an issue running 30x9.5's but is now very apparent with 31x10.5's

You can adjust the shift points only 'so' much and often it can get better on one end of the scale but then worse on the other. Kind of a give and take.

All of this is relative to your gearing and transmission as well as the Delica's come with different gear ratio's (most common 4.875's)

Just for info - all 2.5TD L300's come with the 4.875 diffs. It's only the petrol and other variants that have different ratios......so most of you on this site will have the 4.875.

33's from a landcruiser ? Looks like the same offset.

33's form a Land Cruiser work. Those are the 33 x 9.5's that I had on for a day that fit great. Not many manufacturers make that size so I am going with 235 85 r 16. Less cutting and issues with skinny tires.

I hear you. I scraped this morning. Need to take the BFH and do some more *cough* modifying.

are you running 31 or 33 jesse?

31's and they are ProComp AllTerrain's.

David, the chart is a good comparison but the only thing it leaves out is the difference in 'actual' diameter between all terrain's/all season's/mud tires. You can actually have almost 3/4 " difference in diameter between the three.
