Just picked up this big 250 gallons tank for free, loving it! I'll be using it as my 3rd WVO tank (my clean oil storage tank).

It's 6' long by 5' high by 2' wide and I'm very impressed that I was able to unload it by myself without damaging my too clean Delica! (Loading it was another story but still no damages).

That blue 55 gallon barrel was also free, don't know yet if I can use it for my system or if it will be for water collection in the garden.

I took the plunge and bought my WVO kit and also my filtration system.

For the filtration I'll be using a Redline kit that I customized a bit when I ordered it. There's a 400u mesh at the tip of the wand to pick up the dirty oil in the 1st barrel followed by a large 2" by 8" 140u strainer on the suction side of the pump. On the other side of the pump I'll have a reusable 30u filter for the 1st pass (dumping the WVO in the 2nd barrel) and from there I'll be doing a final pass by changing the element of the reusable filter down to 10u to ends it's course in the large 250 gallons tank.

For the kit on the bus I'll be using mostly PlantDrive parts mixing it with some other parts. Don't want to reinvent the wheel here, just want a trouble free system.

So thanks to everyone that help me go ahead with this project;
Kevin, Eric, Adam, Josh, Sean... you were all a big chunk of inspiration and knowledge!

I'll update as I go along, thanks again!

I think you're going to need a bigger roof rack and some serious straps to hold that down on top of the van... :o

Or just a big lift to fit it underneath...

Who cares about the lack of space and the warped springs; you could drive across Canada on one fill!

:o

Now I need to find out how to properly clean this thing! Any product that would clean it throughly? Kevin had a product's name on the tip of his tongue but couldn't come up with the actual name... Any ideas?

It was muriatic Acid, which is just hydrochloric acid, which is a fantastic cleaner. Following the Muriatic acid the cleaned metal surfaces will oxidize quickly so following that you can use a phosphoric acid mix, also available at Cambodian tire in the automotive department, which attacks rust but leaves a bit better corrosion resistant surface. After through cleaning swirl in some clean veggie to help protect the interior surface. Both are products nasty to you, and hydrochloric acid is nasty to everything else. But a heavily diluted solution of phosphoric acid and phosphates (the rust) should make a great fertilizer.

Thanks Kevin!

Now I just got to convince the neighbours to a "tank rolling party" in my back yard! Thinking of it I should have put my header as "Vancouver to Montreal on a single tank of fuel!" :-D as it's actually what I would need for a one way trip...
