well... -20c today, and without any help the Delica started... wasn't happy about it... but she started! which removes one more doubt from my mind (I'm uncomfortable with any vehicle that I can't get started unassisted at -20c, below that I figure needing to be plugged is understandable)

just more proof that I made the right choice!

my glow plugs all died and I was forced to fill the `pockets` around each of the glow plug sockets with gasoline and light them on fire, in addition to heating various parts of the intake system with a propane torch. This was all done at 2 degrees ABOVE Zero. Mind you it was at high altitude with Mexican diesel in her.
At temperatures above 15 degrees it will start easily without glow plugs.

I still love this thing

Funny, I was thinking today how impressed I was too, but with the winter drivability. With all the snow we've had here, the roads are terrible. Without 4WD engaged, she can feel a little squirrelly, but very steady once 4WD is on. I feel more stable and confident on the road than I did with my Jeep, especially with braking. I guess the extra weight helps with the traction. Fantastic vehicle.
