Excellent people, the guy's name is Karim and he will do anything for you... However... ask about the DRL's and the headlights and the timing belt. I have no DRL's and the headlights were never changed (a $350 fix that I have to do this spring when I am up for the Delica meet). I also decided to change the timing belt and water pump soon after buying it.

They are real honest wonderful people and will never rip you off. What you see is what you get. I was pleasantly suprised. They actually care about your expirience with you vehicle and I really cannot say enough good things about them.

Yes, they are good people. Karim is not a mechanic and prefers that his customers have an independent inspection done by a qualified mechanic. I would not list a BCAA mechanic as being qualified when it comes to diesel JDM vehicles. Try someone like ATEB or North Shore Offroad.

I spoke with Karim on Saturday as his brother Abdul and I were installing new tie rod ends and engine mounts on my Safari - an agreement on the term of sale. I had agreed to buy the parts and Abdul would install them. I ended up helping, as on the Safari, it is a tough job for just one person to do. When I went to the lot to pay karim for the parts, I told him about having to buy new head lights and two relays to set up my DRL (I have a 24 volt Safari and not a Delica), which cost me about $100. He would not let me pay him the $100 difference I owed him on the parts I had him order in for me.

Karim has been following what his inspection shop has been telling him. It seems that there has been a fair bit of confusion with the gov inspection shops. I also understand that the Gov Inspection Manual is being rewitten, so perhaps things will be a bit clearer for the inspectors and the dealers. However, I have found that if something is wrong, Karim is ready to make it right.

I bought my Delica from Karim last week and I echo all the good things said about him. He appears to be honest and helpful and I have no reason to think otherwise. He stored my Landcruiser for me while I spent the weekend testing out my new Deli and his mechanic even had it out and ready to go for me when I got back. Good people. I'd deal with them again...

I am also one of Karim's recent customers and I like the way he deals with 'issues'; you can get get honest answers on your questions. Ask him about '6-month warranty' that all the JDM dealers advertise and you will learn something new from him.http://www.delica.ca/forum/posting.php? ... &f=9&t=212#

I had good succes with Karim too. As others have said here he does not claim to be a mechanic. My van was waaaaaaaay out of tune when I bought it from him. Compliant, but way out of tune. My best advice would be Buyer Beware!

He has a good selection but you are best to buy it an then take it to CVI for a tune.

We got ours there too... decent experience over-all. he usually has some in stock (which was somewhat important at the time) and the prices are a bit lower than other dealers, but less service is done prior to the sale than others (some is sometimes done after the sale, such as headlights or DRL, etc) so you'll probably need to get it tuned up somewhere else. He also sometimes gets vehicles with minor body dents and fixes them, so have it inspected if that sort of thing is important. I had wet front carpets, so I did the front quarter panel seam re-seal myself, but the water seems to be coming in from the bottom of the window - don't know if there's much that can be done about that. The hitch installation cost a bit more than it was supposed to because of some rear-end damage that I didn't notice and he didn't tell me about on the lot, and there's a gap near the bottom of the rear door that I had to add foam tape to fill - so you gotta do your homework.

I am shoping for a delica and am planning to buy one from Silk Road Autos as they have been highly recommended by a couple of my frineds who bought a Prado and a Townace from them. In the meantime, however, I have a few questions. Which models have LSD? I hear that Super Exceeds has one but are there any other models that would have LSD? Karim told me he didn't like Super Exceeds because the interior!!! Any information in this regard would be appreciated.

Silk Road has been able to provide parts and service for my friends over the past couple of years for the two toyota vehicles they have and I have no doubt they would be able to do the same for Delicas but are parts more difficult to find for delicas or more expensive than the toyota jdm models? Also, does anyone have any experience in regards to special orders. I met someone who had a delica special ordered through Japanoid and was very disappointed but I have also met someone who had one ordered through Silk Road and was very happy with it. Does anyone recommend special orders as Silk Road offers very good pricing and I am tempted to do it that way.

Well I may have more questions as I keep on building my plans to own one. I hope Karim doesn't get tired of me!!

Cheers

Ml

what's not to like about the interior of the Super Exceeds?? they are the top of the line as far as Mitsubishi was concerned...

As for LSD, it's not that simple, SOME Super Exceeds have it, some do not, some other models have it as well, but less likely, LSD was a factory option, not specifically associated to any one model. To find out if the vehicle has it you have to look for a sticker on the differential, or decode the model number and/or transaxle code from the VIN plate.

I am a new Delica owner and bough mine at Silk Road Autos. A couple of weeks after I bought mine, I got my headlights burned. I went back to the dealership and they replaced the bulbs for me, however, a few weeks later it happened again. I thought there may be a problem with the wiring and took the vehicle to a wiring guy who couldn't find any problem with the wiring for the Day Time Running lights. I went back to Silk Road and they replaced the bulbs again no questions asked, I may say. Now I am worried that it may happen again. Does anyone have any such experience? By the way, I cannot say enough about the guys at Silk Road. They have done an excellent job in servicing my delica and are really dependable and knowledgeable.

I echo Green1's comments. They are really comfy and luxurious. The only potential problem is that the material is designed more for comfort than wear and tear. The Chamonix is the wear and tear fabric, but definitely not as comfy as the exeed or super exceed.

I was told that most Chamonix have LSD. I checked, mine does.
