Yesterday when I turned the ignition key the dashboard lights shut off.

I turned the key back and then to the acc position, the dashboard lights came on , I heard the usual two clicks from my glowplugs and she fired up as normal.

This morning...nada...dead, dead,dead.

Took out my meter, the battery reads 12.6.

Tried a jump from my Honda. Nada

Let her charge for a few minutes. Nada

Waited a couple of minutes, tried again, dashboard lights...no start.

Revved the Honda to 2000rpm...tried again...you get the picture.

Thoughts?

I need the van for work Monday, would like to be able to fix this myself otherwise I'll be
renting a van.

Plus does anybody know of a mechanic who works on Deli's in the Tri-cities area? (Port Moody,Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam)

I've been reading through past topics and am wondering about the starter and alternator, has anyone else had this problem?

Played with the shifter too, wish it were that easy.

I've had my battery die like that before while still reading a 12V charge on the meter. I'm not sure if it is a short in my wiring that I added for my WVO system, or if the problem existed previously. The only solution I found was to fiddle with the negative terminal battery cables until I was able to turn over the van again. I have two batteries, so I'm thinking that there is a loose connection somewhere. I haven't had a repeat of the problem in a few months.

12.6 is a good battery, possibly a bad connection somewhere... check the terminals and especially the ground strap where it connects to the chasis

checked your fuses? and its not in gear?

Hi, check your fusable link in the battery that hook up towards the glow plug.
usually this thing burn off & corroded, it happen to me before it works.
you should not have any problem when you check all of this.

I made a couple of phone calls this afternoon and came across a mobile mechanic on Craig's list by the name of Ray,

He was great, gave me some free advice and it worked.

He told me to clean my battery posts and connectors and give it another go.

I took some steel wool and elbow grease , crossed my fingers, prayed said , please, please, please and

she fired up right away! ALIVE ALIVE ALIVE!

Nice and simple, really great advice. Moisture buildup and time of year was Ray's explanation.

I then followed his advice and ran down to London Drugs and picked up the generic equivalent of vaseline and slathered the posts and connectors liberally.
