Finally got pix reduced...

Here's my baby on her first weekend out... 1992 L300, 8 seater, automatic, annnnd... factory option Panasonic TV/VCR 8-) Lovin' it! Safari Rack and lights yet to be installed plus whatever other goodies I can find.

Fun to drive... very good off-road so far. Put it to the test on Dakota Ridge on the Sunshine Coast last weekend and was amazed at how sure-footed it was in the snow. Even deep ruts didn't phase it any and was able to drive out of the ruts when necessary. Can't wait for more adventures....

Nice rig, good to see you're putting her to work right away! Always nice to see that color combo. It makes them stand out even more.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind words! The wife and I were dying to get up into the mountians even before I put my deposit down so by the time I got it home to South Surrey and waited a week to get up to our cabin in Davis Bay we were beside ourselves with anticipation. Will be getting off road as much as I can now.

As far as the low roof goes... I originally wanted the Crystal Lite roof but after a lot of thought, I decided a low roof was more "me". I like the look of it and have seen a very raised one online - looked very aggressive, less luxury, like it meant business - just personal preference... no offence to high roof guys... I like those too. I would like mine to follow that "big truck" look eventually when I finish some of my major house projects.

I love the fact we can share our "war" stories here.
Cheers!
Ian

Congrats and nice color, very few vehicle can be light blue and still be undeniably tough looking at the same time. Ahhhh, that new spotless Delica look - the bars are even whiter then the snow!

Can't wait to see it on the coast. Did you order a hitch? I'm in the process of having a little custom one made.

Regards,
Kev

Hey Kev,

They kinda do look REALLY white don't they. The colour does well to hide dirt so... a little over exposure on the camera setting and.. PRESTO!... white bars!

I'm disappointed tho because someone has already backed into the left side of the bull bars and pushed it in a bit and left a nice black mark on them too. No note or anything.... I really don't like people who don't man up and confess to this stuff. Happened a lot with my hot rod pickup too. Very irritating!

On a happier note... hitch is ordered. Supposed to bolt into existing holes in frame. Need a heavy duty one to pull my wierd boat so I have a wierd/weird combination van/boat rig. That'll be one for the picture book.

Perhaps we'll get a chance to talk shop one day up there, eh? Alternating weekends right now to finish renos in White Rock but wanting to get out and play...
Cheers!

OKAY!!!! I'm soooo excited, I had to bump up my post.....

The name of my ride FINALLY came to me..... Blue Gene... or Blue Jean

I was thinking today that the colour of my Deli is the same as several of my parents old vehicles. We always joked that blue seems to run in the family because there were so many blue vehicles... hence "Gene" as it seems I have the same unconcious desire to own a blue vehicle... again.

My struggle now is that 'Gene' is masculine I believe... so... do I resort to the denim version "Jean" (also fitting and a cool little play on words).

Anyway... sometimes it's the small things that amuse us most... it's the highlight of my day anyway which is a sad thing because....
I'm now truly a Delica geek and I think that is very.... 8-)

Thanks for indulging me!
Cheers all!
Ian

You could feminize 'Gene/Jean' with 'Jeanie'. Just a thought.

Nice ride, and I do agree with the blue/white color comments - it's one of the few vans that I actually like in the color white.
