I'm curious if I'm the only one with this problem.
Going up logging roads, and not incredibly steep ones by any means, my EGTS were around 650f but my dash temp kept rising. It finally got up near the 3/4 mark and I put the front and rear blower on to help cool it down as I crested the ridge.
I just replaced the fan clutch on Friday, a coolant flush less than a 1,000 miles ago plus new rad cap, and the water pump/thermostat are maybe 25k miles old.
The radiator is around 30k miles old however it has had a blown water pump and head gasket go through it....
Should my radiator get a proper flush at a shop or does this seem like a different issue?

Has this changed from before you fitted the new fan clutch? Is the fan installed around the right way? (It's pretty hard to put it on backwards, but you never know...)

That sounds fairly normal, though. The radiator doesn't get much airflow at the best of times, climbing a hill slowly is the worst scenario. You should find that the temperature gauge slows down as it rises, and should eventually stabilise around 3/4. As long as it's below the white line it's considered "normal".

I gotcha. I put in the new clutch because on highway hill climbs it was creeping up high as well (EGT's around 1100f) driving around in 4wd slow on back roads was causing it before as well. I remembered you had added to a post that a new fan clutch may help (at least on the highway side)

The fan didn't get put on backwards this time as there was no way for it to flip around while still down there. However maybe before I put on backwards? It would definitely be an item that if it fit together fine I figured it was correct. I'll take a look at it.

That all sounds quite normal. I had the same thing; old temperature senders get lazy and clogged with crud, and we get used to the temperature gauge sitting at 1/4. Then we fit a new sender, fix the cooling system, and suddenly the gauge is moving all over the place. As long as it slows down around 3/4 and stops before the top "normal" line you're good. If the gauge continues to rocket past 3/4 you've got trouble.
