L300 Manual Transmission failing

Greetings folks, long time no "see"
My L300 Manual transmission has been giving me trouble. Any links or part # references would be much appreciated.
A few months ago, occasionally shifter would not go in to reverse, and 4th gear would sometimes pop out.
More recently, sometimes would stick in gear if parked in gear, then 4th is gone completley, and occasionally other gears dont work. I drove home to Powell River from Gibson's with only 3rd and 5th! But when I got home, lo and behold, all gears except 4th were working again.
It's at my mechanic, who happens to be a transmission expert, but without part #s it might be hard to find what I need.
Thanks
Ari

I don't have much experience with the manual gearbox in a Delica, but from what you've described I'd suspect something in the selector linkage has come loose. I wouldn't expect it to be a difficult fix for an experienced mechanic.
Parts shouldn't be too difficult either- the internal parts are (allegedly) the same as a KM131 gearbox that was used on many other vehicles, not just Mitsubishis.

Thanks growlerbearnz. Would you know part #s for the transmission or the gears themselves in case it comes to that?

Not off the top of my head, but have a look on partsouq.com.
There's a post in the FAQ about finding part numbers:

went through this about 5-6 years ago. same issues. reverse issues and popping out of gear.
start sourcing your parts ASAP. the 5spd is somewhat difficult to find. you might have a easier time sourcing someone to recondition your current transmission than be able to source a new one. talk to graham at CCA. he might be able to help you.
hope you have an alternate car during your delica's recovery.

I think i got lucky. Amazing Auto Import has one that will be here in December. Then I'll recondition the old one and sell it?

December tuned in to January, January then February. Damn did Mardy ever drop the ball on this. Excuses and still didnt ship it until May.
The old transmission was complete garbage. It's gone.

I just had my MT blow back in May. I found a used one at RMI that I paid huge coin for only to have it shift hardly any better than my old one before it blew. I'm trying to rebuild the old one at the moment. These damn things, would you consider selling the van sans transmission? If it's in good shape and has that pop top I'm pretty interested, 250-550-5129

Oh nice! Wasn't sure the timeline. What is the quality of the transmission Marty sold you and what did he charge? It's good for us MT delica owners to have an idea of the cost. Additionally how many kms did you do on your original transmission before it blew?

i think i paid around $1200 and its fine. van had 320k before the transmission quit. i dont remember the exact name of the part, but some sort of shaft broke loose which would, at first occasionally prevent me from shifting into R, then occasionally also very hard from 3 to 4, until eventually I drove home from Vancouver to Powell River with only 2nd and 5th

1200$ is pretty good! I paid 1750$ and mine isn't the greatest. Old one did 280000, still waiting to hear back from the transmission shop if it's rebuild able.
