Engine revving pretty high before shifting

Hey there folks,

It seems as though my engine revs quite high before shifting into the next gear. If I'm on a hill from a stop and climbing, I have to pull back a touch on the accelerator pedal for it to shift down.

Quite a while ago I had my VW mechanic do some major work on my van. We pulled the leaking Injector Pump and had it rebuilt. He also did the timing belt, thermostat, ect, ect....
It seemed to shift differently after all the work was done. And I recall him saying adjustments can be made so the transmission shifts sooner or later, but he wasn't sure what these specs are for the Delica.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm technically declined at the best of times.

Cheers, Phil

You make the adjustments with the "kick-down linkage". I was unaware of any specs for this, I usually adjust it, drive a little bit, adjust it again, drive a little bit, &c., until it feels right. Put "kick down linkage" in the search engine and see what comes up. Let us know what happens. :)

Falco.

Yes Falco, that sounds right. I believe my mechanic saying that he could make the adjustments if he knew what the specs were. It must have been adjusted differently before he did all the work. I will search this out, but in the meantime where is this on the engine? Perhaps I can tweak mine a little like you have and see if I can make this better.
