Relearning an idle?

I replaced my alternator this weekend and when I restarted the van and drove it I immediately noticed a very low idle at stop, roughly 100 to 200 RPM which is almost enough to stall, and low enough to cause oil starvation. How do I relearn the idle?

I am definitely curious about possible causes of low (and unstable) idle too. However, my issue only comes when the engine is hot, is shut off, then restarted. It tends to idle very low - same rpm range as yours, almost below the tach's register.

I suspect it is not quite related to what you described but would be interested in hearing insight anyway.

What I found through investigation with this issue on the internet is that letting the engine idle after connecting the battery is the way to go....however! I also have to do a throttle body cleaning. I took mine to my dealer and had them do it. Idles perfectly now in all situations.
