I recently purchased a engine from used from a space gear and need to know what the circled item is in this picture of the injection pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im sorry you feel that way. Your first reply clearly states that the motor I have is not a 4d56 because it was pulled from l400/Space gear. I simply tried to show that the donor vehicle had multiple engine options, and your second post still doesn't change my opinion of you. My question was for anyone kind enough to share their knowledge regarding the engine. I admit there is very little I can give to this forum. I know next to nothing about these awesome vans other than my engine came from one.

There are very few 2WD L400 in Canada. That model could have either a gas(2.4L) or diesel(4D56) engine. Most of our membership associate the bigger 4M40 (2.8L TD) in the L400 and the 4D56 (2.5L TD) in the L300 because these are the most common variety we import.

The piece you had asked is a timing solenoid. At least according to the manuals for the 4D56 fuel system. For future queries perhaps a look through the technical manuals would be helpful.

You said yourself you know little about the Delicas....here's a starting point. You can also get a more comprehensive manual on CD from ebay.co.uk for around 7$.

I used to have a link to a pdf for the entire mitsubishi delica manual. But I'd to dig it out and find out it was wrong for the 2wd l400 and id given the OP a bumsteer. I couldnt forgive myself.
