I'm looking for ideas or suggestions to help with the storage of my van. Planning on heading out from work and Canada (and my deli) for the better part of a year and am weighing options and availability of how to store my things and my van.

Unfortunatley I don't have access to inside storage (without paying for it), so the best I've got is that I'll be parking it in relative's driveway, but it will be exposed to the elements and not normally run for some time. I plan on doing an oil change prestorage (using Shell T6 Synthetic Oil). Otherwise, but otherwise was going to just get a cover for it and hope that it resides well where it is.

Does anyone have suggestions of what car/van cover would fit best and where to purchase it? As well as other prestorage maintenance that I should consider? What issues have you encountered bringing it out of storage?

Do some reading on diesel fuel stabilizers. There are gasoline products for small engines that sit for extended periods. It helps keep the fuel viable after sitting for a long period.

There are also cylinder fogging agents that coat the walls of the cylinders to protect the engine and reduce potential moisture/condensation damage.

Batteries: trickle chargers, solar chargers that help keep the battery charged.

A better idea would be to have your friend/family member start it once a month and idle the engine for 15-20 minutes.

Put two cans of seafoam in a full tanks of diesel. (It's fuel stabilizer) Also dump a liter of two stroke oil in. Go for a drive for 20 minutes. Have whom ever you can start it up once or twice a month. Put something in the windows to protect the dash. I hate covers. They often don't breathe right and rust starts.
