I just noticed the "Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar" for sale and am wondering if it's worth going for that over the "Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac" It looks like it's more of a mud tire, so possible not what I'm looking for. Are both snow rated?

Superior puncture resistance due to kevlar belts and thick sidewall rubber.
Great in mud, sand, rocks, dirt. Fantastic traction for most 4WD conditions. Large gaps between the tread allows for quick self clearing with every rotation.

Large tread lugs with only one central rib that is siped(factory cuts in the tread).
Not the best on snow and even worse on ice.
They are M+S rated but the large tread blocks can't grip on ice and snow due to the lack of siping.
Lots of road noise but not as bad as some previous generation mud tires.
The offset lug pattern does reduce noise somewhat but not all of it.
Takes a bit more weight to balance the tires due to their heavy duty construction even with the 30 and 31" versions

Life expectency of the tires is around 55-65K to the wear bars.

Good tire for 3/4 seasons. Not recommended for winter unless you plan on being in 4WD all the time.

Now if you get the tires siped they would be better in winter conditions but this would reduce tread life and it usually costs about 40 per tire to do it.....labor dude!

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'm best to stick with the DuraTrac's. I'm guessing I won't get the same durability as my BFG's (now at 80,000km with most of the driving done with poor alignment), but it sounds like they perform better in the snow and I do a lot of snow driving.

Duratrac is good. Its snow performance is better than I expected. And these tires can be studded too. Super icy road here this year, wish mine were studded.
