How are the waist trim pieces attached

I popped one of the waist trim pieces, plastic pieces on the right hand rear hatch. The trim attachment is now broken. Are these a dedicated piece or something that can be replaced? It appears that there is one piece that has a threaded insert, but at the end, it is a pop in. From what I can tell, the wist trim is both popped in and screwed in. Has anyone rebuilt their rear hatch trim?

Hi Erich,
If you can't find the piece at your local Lordco or after market dealer, I would suggest going to "Delica FAQ Section", which you can find in Delica Canada Technical. Once there, click on "Useful Links for Vehicle Part Identification Purposes." When that opens up, scroll down to "JDM Online Catalogue". Once you've clicked on that ~ enter your VIN in the Mitsubishi field and hit enter. What you should see is a catalogue of all the OEM part numbers for your vehicle*, I believe you will want to look initially for 51 Exterior. This is a very useful tool and will help you a little with understanding your wagon's history, as well. This only works with JDMs so it has to be the original VIN, not an American assigned one. As you likely know already, your VIN is located under a little hatch between the driver's seat and the door. There is also a little flap in the carpet, between your legs as you sit in the saddle, which has information on it also. If you are not familiar with the Delica FAQ Section, then I would recommend it's perusal as there are a number of useful items in there... smiles. Hope this helps.
Falco.
*With the OEM parts number I suspect that you can find a piece like this at your local Mitsubishi dealer. If not, perhaps they will order it in for you.

Thank you, Falco.
It's all these little parts that are hard to source.

I'm not actually sure which part you're talking about. Are you talking about the little plastic studs/rivets that clip onto the piece and plug into a hole in the body? I ended up going to Lordco and Canadian Tire to source mine. I'm sure the latter and probably the former are not available in Washington State but I would imagine that you have lots of auto parts stores. Usually there's a rotating stand with baskets full of various plastic rivets. Can you post a picture of the piece you're referring to?
