This is just a vent.. it's either this or I'll throw some tools..
What mind-numbingly dense ass-clown decided that half the engine is to be unaccessible untill you yank the damnable seat out and then remove a bunch of bolts and then a chunk of steel! Oh wait! I forgot to undo the muther-@#^%$ parkbrake and fuel door! This should be an example to engineers and designers of what not to do.
I'm going to get someone to help me design a 'hood' for the drivers side this summer.
What a ridiculously stupid inept crack-snortingly retarded design.

LOL... Oh come on...
The four 12mil bolts for the saddle; seven 12 mil bolts, five phillips screws E-brake & fuel latch clips and one wing nut are just a five minute warm up to stretch your muscles before you start really pulling wrenches when you get to the motor.

Hehe.. yeah I was just a bit angry.
Thought I had everything done and ready for a test drive when things went bad.
I had just put that whole contraption back together when I realized I'd have to dive back in there again.
But I stand by my rant.. it IS dumb and I think I will try to make a hood for the drivers side.

Re: Under the "hood"
I was looking through the internet the other day, looking to see what they were using under the bonnet of the Pajeros that were actually raced in the Paris to Dakar rallies in the eighties (or nineties for that matter) and somewhere along the way I came across a picture of some guy's Starwagon with both seats independently hinging up. I tried to find it again when I was posting in this thread but for the life of me I could not find it. Myself, I just deal with it. I actually have more screws to undo because of ground leads that I have to detach before I can get that plate off. My inconvenience is putting the saddle back in. What I do now is get all the screws in, then torque them down once they are all in place. Took me a while to figure that one out!

Re: Under the "hood"
I'd love to see that picture.
My biggest beef with this design is when I'm on the side of the road (like today) with a problem and I'm trying to troubleshoot the problem. It's very hard to see or do anything on the right hand side of that engine.
I saw a pic of a left hand drive deli with a hood for the right hand seat. Just gotta find a part number..
