Hey guys. I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a 34 year old van freak. I'm in the market for a pre-89 TD Delica. I'm also interested in supercharged 2-cylinder microvans (Carry, Domingo, etc). I currently only have one van, but it's pretty cool! A restored 1970 Subaru 360 van. My daily driver is a Subaru XV Crosstrek, but I'm thinking once I get a Delica I'll never want to drive anything else
Anyways, I have a lead on one, but might not be able to purchase until after the holidays. Hopefully I'll be posting pics of my new ride soon!
And since I'm here I'd like to ask a question. Is there any companies still doing Camper conversions on Delicas? I ask because finding a pre-89 TD in good shape with a camper conversion is basically impossible so I'm considering all options. I have to have pre-89 to import to California. It has to be diesel too to be smog exempt here. I live near Mt. Baldy so that's where I camp most of the time.
One more question and it's kind of silly. Can you hear the turbo on the TD motors? I love the sound of a TD with the chattering mixed with the turbo, but in all the Delica vids I can't hear the turbo. It's not a deal breaker either way, but I'd love to hear it.
