1994 L300 issues

Hi all!

I've boldly ventured again into the L300 ownership recently, and the path ahead seems much more bumpy than I anticipated...

The van I got has (according to Butch) an incorrect injection pump installed, causing the van to run poorly. When I got it, I assumed it was IP timing mixed with old diesel and bummed glow plugs that caused it to run like shit. I did not anticipate THIS curve ball, for sure...lol.
Here's my problem:

The van I got should have a liquid cooled IP and Turbo. It's some sort of "new style" according to Butch.

Does anybody know ANYONE who might have a liquid cooled IP for an L300?
Anybody has any idea of a part# I'm looking for, if I was to get a whole new pump?

Everything I've found on the forum so far is for the non-liquid cooled stuff...

I did.
I find Steven kind of rude to be honest.
I've never dealt with him before, but i did not care how he talked to me.
very abrupt, rude way of speaking.

And I certainly did not like his quote ($1000).

Funny thing is that the IP in this van is a Hyundai unit, and I had 3 different people telling me this van CAME from Rising Sun.
Not sure if it's true or not.
Either way, I just want the damn thing to run well.

I don't believe its intentional. To me he seems very upfront and clear cut. I like him because of results. Dealt really well with the purchase of the L400. I've bought lots of parts for my old 300 and he came through where he said he would.

Things not to do with Steven :
Don't dick around
Don't call and call and troll for free advice. Unless you have spent money in the past with a shop expecting free advice is kinda rude. Support them (who ever )

Do
Be honest about what you need, the price range that you can pull the trigger at.
I think most people try to be sneaky when buying parts and that's when crappy things happen.

If you need a new ip pump and it's not the norm that sounds like difficult part and a bit more $. If Steven says it's the right thing get him to give you some assurances and such.

I got a complete pump from him for my old 1990 L300. He recognized things from the picture I sent him that none of the other shops saw from the same pics.

And yes, lots of people dislike Steven.
Get that van running ;)

My apologies for being out of the service area (been living in a log cabin on a small island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean) let's get the topic back on track... smiles.

Jester, have you gone to the Delica FAQ Section? In there is a thread called "Useful Links for Vehicle Part Identification Purposes." Once there scroll down to "JDM Online Catalogue", click on that and enter your VIN in the Mitsubishi field and enter. The page that turns up should give you every OEM part number for your wagon, also the day she rolled off the assembly line. I believe Zexel made the IP for the Mitsubishi Starwagon. Hope this helps!

Falco.
