Welli have been having some bad luck with my delica lately. Got her started today but the shifter button is stuck. It's as if it doesn't recognize when I step on the brake. Anyone run into this?

Is there an override somewhere? I can't find any info about it anywhere on the internet

I think you hit the nail on the head with the interlock switch.

There should be a small opening on the shifter faceplate that will allow you to mechanically disengage the shifter lock with a small screwdriver or key. Look for a small removable plastic square or key sized slot on the face plate of the shifter.

When you press the brake pedal you should hear the interlock solenoid click on/off at the shifter arm.

If not then you might have a bad connection or a bad switch (brake pedal arm)/solenoid(shifter) at one or both ends of the interlock circuit.

I JUST had this exact problem, made me late for work one day. Looked it up here and only found 2 posts on the subject. And it may very well be what the others are saying it is, as I am NO mechanic!

For me, it was a small white clip that holds a cable located down by the brake pedal. On the LEFT side at the base of the steering column there is a cable running through from the floor. Follow this up to where the cable is exposed and meets a white clip (kind of reminded me of a laundry clip). If the cable seems loose, this may be your problem.

How to fix: It's kind of a awkward place to reach, and the clip can be hard to see (if you're a "big boned" guy like me, haha) Be careful: You don't want to be too forceful with the plastic pieces as there's some small plastic hooks attached to the cable and mine slightly broke. The cable has a metal 'nub' on the end of it; take the nub and slide the cable vertically to the top of the white clip. When I say "top", I mean the point at which the white clip rotates. You will need to push hard enough for the cable to click back into place.
