Hey guys I may get roasted here but im looking to possibly trade my 94 l400 with 200ks for a lifted 89 hilux with 150kms. Its a turbo diesel 5spd. The reason being id like to be able to park in my underground for starters plus ive been a yota guy for years. Any pro or cons? Am I getting the short end of the stick on the trade value? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Waaaay short end. Unless that Hilux is absolutely tricked out, it's worth about $3-4500. And while I liked my Hilux (a '91 Surf turbo diesel 160k), I like my Pajero a great deal more... more power, nicer to drive, more room, better engine. Just "more". And I was a 'Yota guy too: '87 diesel Landcruiser and currently have the Hilux and a Harrier. Hell if you're set on a Hilux, I'll give you a screamin' deal on mine.... but for god's sake, keep the Mitsu.

One of the inherent problems with that vintage of hilux diesel (2LT/E), is that they were pretty under-powered. Adding a lift, and (am assuming) bigger tires etc., just exacerbates the problem. I thought this was endemic to the small diesels... but not so! The 2800 TD 4M40 in the Paj will do 110km/hr up hills that the Surf crawls up up at maybe 70-80km/hr tops. Stock rims and tires on both. Not sure what the actual difference in horsepower is, but it "feels" like 40-50 hp.

The only good thing about the Toyota is when I break it, there is this: http://www.toyodiy.com/

It doesn't look like much until you drill down, but it is a phenomenal resource for old toyota drivers (or even drivers of old toyotas, lol). I'd give anything if Mitsubishi had similar.
