Embarassing moment today need some advice

Well I had an oops today, I ended up laying my Deli on her side

Luckly damage was light, only need to replace my headlight, marker light, the body work behind my mirror needs to be pulled out. I some how managed not to break any windows or mirrors when she tipped.
I have noticed the first thing that my battery seems flat ? is it safe to charge it up and use it again ?
I have checked the engine fluids, oil is still in the crank case - going to wait tomorrow to check the level
Rad still has coolant - should I be worried about air pockets ?
I have not looked at the Diffs, but I was told by the tow operator that they were dripping out the vent tubes. so I will be looking at them tomorrow too.
is there anything else I should look into first before trying to start it again?
thank you in advance
Phill Simpson
ps here is a Facebook link to a photo of the damage, as I don't know how to post pics. hope it works

Nope, can't see the pic on my iPod. Any details on the mishap? Speed, road condition, tires, breaking? It might help others.

it seemed to be a few factors, I was heading down hill on and S bend, the raod was wet with oil slicks, with a slope towards the ditch. I was moving around 30km due to all the above factors. I was lightly braking ( my tires are not to bad all season truck tires with about 60 % left), and lost the rear end as I came around the last corner. the only one reason I tipped I believe is I hit a large boulder in the ditch which was the straw the broke the camels back. not much else to say. The locals that I was talking to while waiting for the tow truck said that corner/hill is just slippery at the best of times and is a serous accident waiting to happen.

Don't charge your battery. If they were good before the tip and are no good now one of 3 things may have happened.
1. If you have standard lead acid batteries they have a tray at the bottom which collect debris and sediment. When you put it on its side all that crap has floated back up and between the lead plates in your batt. This is now allowing the plates to short out. Putting a charger on will just create heat and could blow up the battery. If it is sediment leaving the battery to sit a few days should resolve this.
2. The jarring from the tip has bent the internal plates and they are now making contact with each other and again causing a dead short. Throwing a charger on this could damage the charger and again blow up the battery due to excessive heat. these is no fix for this and the battery must be replaced.
3. The acid has drained from your batt and the lad plates are no exposed to air. Again charging will not help as there's nothing there to causing a reaction anymore. if the batts can be services you can refill them with distilled water and try to charge. May or may not work.
Make sure there is no acid spill in your truck or you will have extreme rust issues very quickly. Neutralize it with baking soda or an acid neutralizer from Lordco.
Glad to here the damage is minor and nobody was hurt.

X2 on the battery....also check it did not dead short in there causing damage to connectors or battery box...
Check fluids, check alignment of suspension, sounds like it should be good to go...
Also, I have found on short wheel base trucks shocks make a huge difference in handling...might be time for new shocks, and check anti-sway bar mounts....
Pictures did not work for me (site only allows for little pictures to be posted ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh again to moderators for this!!! as it hurts the site not to have photos uploaded because of this ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)

Thanks guys, I did some more digging around today, I noticed that all I need is a new lens for my head lights, and some minor body work.
Does any one know if they make a passanger side mirror that hangs off the door ? my mirror is good but the mounting location is all messed up and its now no longer pointing it in the right direction. this will be fixed by a body shop I hope.
so list of things todo today, new battery, locate a new lens/headlight assembly, and get the mirror back on and mostly aimed right.

You could try get the mirror from a LHD deli? I think you may find the mirror or at least some of it is blocked by the A pillar if you hang it off the door.

I got some cheapy door mounted mirrors from China, the OEM are much more durable and rugged though. I believe the Hyundai h100 would be the same mirror and mounting (by trial and error I've found the Mitsu Mad Max trucks aren't). I've asked at Hyundai Canada if they could order the mirrors (providing them with a part number) but they couldn't find it in their system. I have also seen some of these dorr mounted mirrors available on the Australian Delica websites.
Good luck!
