This seems to be something that started in the Big Objects thread, but worthy of one all its own.

So...what do you think is the best microwbrewed, craft brewed or pub brewed beer that you've ever had, and why?

I already posted about Church Key West Coast Pale Ale in that other thread. Your turn.

Phillip's Hop Circle I.P.A. is my usual, and I like Whistler's Switchback - another I.P.A. Red Racer does a good E.S.B. and pretty much anything from Spinnaker's is top-shelf. Local-ish and good!

I've actually tried Red Racer...it was available in Trenton (Ontario) when I was there. Nice brew!

I typically enjoy something from Tree Brewing(thirsty beaver, kelowna pilsner, cutthroat pale..)
But recently found Hermans Black lager and Seadog Amber qle from Vancouver Island Brewing.
Great beers with a bit of regional pride!

When I was in Halifax on vacation in 2008 I spent most days going apeshit over Propellerhead IPA. Have not seen it out in BC since so not sure if it still holds up against some of the new sexy IPAs on the shelves but it has a fond fuzzy place in my heart.

I found an amazing raspberry wheat ale at a brewery in Halifax, but can't remember the name. I had a great grapefruit ale from 16th street liquor store, but again, can't remember the name.

Historically before hops were used in beer they used nettles, there ks a brewey over here that makes some that way, but at a cost! I've yet to try it due to it. A friend owns a small brewery but isnt keen on making a batch.

Rubbish. It's popular because it tastes good.

Heavy hopping(which makes an IPA an IPA). Hops are the natural preservative used to get the brew all the way to India in the belly of a schooner...that being said, keiths IPA is about as much IPA as Richards Red is a Stout. If I go IPA I look for Phillips products(makers of Blue Buck).
Be sure to try their Amnesiac Double IPA...its Hop-tarded!

A grapefruit ale! That sounds marvellous! What was that like?

I've had too many to decide. But a consisted good Micro is Howe Sound (love the 1L bottles). This time of year (see post date - Oct) their Pumpkineater Strong Ale is delish. Also just had the Bay Ale.

Personally I'm not a big hops fan. I prefer wheaty and unfiltered ales. A special treat is Innis & Gunn oak aged beer. We tend to go seasonal with all our beer drinking.

3 years ago several of us did a 5-day Oregon Micro-Beer tour on motorbikes (Correct! No drinking and riding)

Village here in Calgary has made a great name for themselves. I've also got into the habit of making a few brews myself (mostly mead), but here's my favorite Jamaican style ginger beer recipe:
in a 1 gallon carboy
-1kg high quality honey
-juiced ginger
-1/5th package of champagne yeast
-fill with fresh spring water (room temperature or slightly warmer)
shake shake shake until everything dissolves

cap with an airlock and brew until desired flavor is achieved, 1.2 months of fermentation yields approx 6-7.5% alcohol, too strong? use less honey!
