Did the L300 come with the 2.8TD????

I was at Partsource last night getting some front pads for my L400 and the parts guy tells me he had an L300 with a 4M40 motor in it. He stated it had a 2.8TD and that ir was a Special Edition Chamonix edition and that all Chamonix had the 2.8TD.

I called his tale a load of BS but again he was 100% convinced his L300 had the 2.8.

Someone confirm this or debunk it.

Maybe someone in Japan did the swap and he didn't realize. The Chamonix's definitely didn't come with a 2.8.

I was told it would not physically fit.....

But, I was told Mercedes Diesel would not fit in my Jeep COE....but my grinder and welder said different...

They also told me I could not raise the roof on the Delica....but my grinder, circular saw, and welder said different (thanks Jay and Christine)....

Sounds like a load of horse-hockey to me.

Possible someone did a mod and dropped one in, but there was no 4M40 in the L300 that I have ever heard of from the factory.
