Squeaky rear brakes...only when cold. Checked pads, which are fine. surprised to see the weird drum parking brake...we think it could be an issue with the parking brake, but can't seem to find any info on parking brakes causing squeaks...any ideas???

Many vehicles, even modern ones, that have disc brakes in the rear employ a drum brake design for the park brake. Drum brakes have remained basically unchanged over the years regardless of vehicle manufacturer. A build up of mud, dust, rust, and even small stones can embedded in the brake material and squeek at random. Sandpaper and some brake cleaner fluid will clear up this issue.

There are no hydraulics for this brake, just old fashioned cables and levers.
Here's one example from a Nissan Armada. Very similar design to Mitsubishi.

You can go here and download the PDF shop manuals for your Deli.

Ahhhh many thanks!! yes, we ran out of time when last we checked the rear brake pads so we didn't bother taking the next couple steps...but thanks for the link on the manual (we actually referred to it and scratched our heads for a bit). the photo helps to make sense of it all. I'll add some photos of our next operation on those drums this week
