Need new tires?

Just a suggestion...I suddenly needed new rear tires; although mine still had 70% tread left, the sidewalls on one rear started cracking like all get out, and leaking air. Woke up to a flat this morning. Tried to find some deals on a pair of good, used, luggy, 225 75R15s but came up empty. What I did find was crappy tire had a sale on these

http://tires.canadiantire.ca/en/tires/l ... 2/0052280/

They have great reviews and for a lifetime warranty and free rotation and flat repair, I thought it was pretty good deal for $100 each for a truck tire. Normally I avoid crappy tire, and although these aren't a *real* 4X4 tire, they are a hell of a lot better than what I had on there.

Tires are like girlfriends and wives: everyone thinks he's got the best. 8-)

Although this is true, I'm not sure that you'll find any support for Motomasters on this site. :-D

Sure, but it all depends on whether people have open minds and are willing to try something new or just hold to old beliefs regardless. I don't particularly like the company and they sell a lot of junk, but the reviews were good and I needed two new tires fast, the deal seemed good so it's an experiment. My old tires were brand name (Dunlop) and it failed with most of its tread left. It doesn't get worse than that, IMO. If they have lousy traction, if they fail soon, I will report it here. If they last a long time and work well, I'll do the same. Thing is they are just tires and I have no attachment to any brands; I just want round rubber that works for a good price.

Absolutely, I'm completely with you there. It's all going to depend on what you're looking for. If you get half the life out of them that you get from the name brands, then you have come out on-top financially. If you want performance, you probably buy something else.

I suspect you're right, but performance is also subject to bias, and is very difficult to compare between brands. Now if I was into heavy off roading in deep mud and such, I would choose a different brand for huge lugs and extreme footprint, which you can't get on a less expensive tire. But that really is more about design than how good the tire is.

Honestly, buying new tires is a big waste of money. But if you have money, then go for something that's a bit pricy. Goodyear will never doubt you on the road or off of it.

Just my opinion.

If you want a capable off road tire, try the Wrangler Territory from Cdn tire. We have them on several vehicles and they are decent wearing and good in the snow and mud. The LT tires stand up better off road than the regular tires.
