Voltage regulator part number

I hate that everytime I post it's about a problem I'm having.. I wish I could post about how my van saved a bus load of bikini-clad super-models stranded in the vast and wild Canadian prairie..

..sigh..

So, as the title says, I'm having some voltage problems and I'm pretty sure it's my voltage regulator. I'm getting strange and fluctuating readings from my dash voltage reader (plugged in at the cigarette lighter.. was 5$ at walmart), anywhere from 11.8 to 14.0. Sometimes it's steady at 14.0 at 100kmh and 5 minutes later it's down to 12.0. Usually at city speeds it's at a healthy 13.7 but after the initial start-up and the glowplugs 'click off' it usually stays at 12.0.

I've searched like crazy here but can't find a part number that would work for Napa or Part source (I know someone will find it in 2 minutes flat.. I seem inept at searching with the search function here). I can't even determine if the regulator is internal or seperate on this rig.

Anyway, I'm hoping someone knows a useful part # for the regulator.

Thanks

I don't know the part number, but when I was in Thompson a couple of years ago, my alternator kicked the bucket. I removed it myself, and took it into an alternator/starter repair shop near the end of Weir Rd. I can't remember the name, but they did a good job, and quick. I walked in with it in the morning, and walked back to get it at noon. Price was not out of line either. It's on the same street as Crazy Pete's, right where Weir Rd hits it. It was also real convenient for me as I was working on Weir Rd by the cement plant. Hope this helps.

Hey Jason..
I've heard good things about those guys. Once I get up there I plan on doing the same thing.

Is the regulator built into the alternator or is it buried somewhere else, seperately?

All the 80's+ Mitsubishi vehicles are internally regulated (built in to alternator) that I have seen. I don't think they have used externally regulated alternators since the 70's in Japanese vehicles.

Yes, the regulator is internal. If your still in Saskatoon, shoot James (firesong) a pm. He had a shop there rebuild one of his, and he may even have a spare kicking around.

I'm actually back in Thompson Mb. I had to get back here for work so I took a calculated risk and drove back. The van would charge normally at idle but at hyway speed would only give a trickle charge.

Ill be ripping it outta there this weekend and taking it in.. May see about getting it re-wired for 90amps too.

Thanks for the help guys.. This site is priceless.
