Has anyone else had problems getting the napa alternator belts to tension up? at first i got the wrong ones that were too long, then got the proper ones, but they barely tensioned before the tensioner ran out of threads... now the belts are slipping again i think, because now that its warmed up i can drive around with my window open, and i can hear the awful hiss/squeak sound again. Also all the lights flicker slightly to the pulse of the signal lights.
I am pretty confident its the alternator belts slipping making the noise, its not the turbo because i can hear it spooling underneath the sound and its seems healthy. Maybe I will rig up a boost gauge too just to make sure I am not losing upper deck pressure somewhere causing the noise.

If the adjustment bolt is at it's last thread the belt is too long. Shorten the adjustor to a mid point and run a string around the pulleys to determine length.
Take it back and ask for a 2" or(?) shorter belt.
good luck

I've had problems with local suppliers getting me the right belts for both the l300 and l400. In most cases, the belts are slightly wider than the stock ones, and they sit high on the pulley's, but they quickly wear the sides down and sink into the pulley's properly, but then have no more adjustment left. Rather than trying numerous sets of belts, I just get the proper ones sent out from one of the suppliers on the forum here. I'm 25 miles from the nearest parts store, so one unnecessary trip costs more than the shipping on a set of belts.

Hmm yeah I may just pick up a set of proper ones when I am in vancouver next, Its annoying, but I am not overly concerned about it right now, I am not thrilled that I have to buy more alternator belts. its not the most fun thing on the van to change.

Same as my situation. The lordco part numbers listed on here don't seem correct; they're too long.
