Hi Rainy, not many of us do transmission repairs. so you have not had any answers.

But as you live in Queen Charlotte / Haida Gwai, then you need some help from the group here.

Give some details: auto or manual, replace all or bits (I can find you a kit number, Fenco makes the manual kit). CVI or Coombs do repair them properly, if you want an expert opinion. I am willing to hunt out info for you. There was another one owned by one of the Coast Guard Auxiliary search and rescue guys (the boat captain), does he still have his?

Christine.

thanks Christine, yeah, I successfully swapped out a spare from a wrack of a parts van that Captain Ross sold me. It went well, everything matched up, no mods...however the range switch/neutral safety switch/shifter sensor thing wasn't functional and my helper broke it, so I currently drive without any reverse beeping, light indicator for gear placement on the dash, nor a back-up light...I would like to fix it. The old transmission NSS worked fine, but removing it is nearly impossible without damaging it, it is seized...there must be a trick! I keep soaking it in pen. lube and lightly tapping it, hoping for a release. These little things oughta be lubed regularly I suppose. I would prefer and replace rather than bypass.

So if you have any tips on how to deal with the removal of this switch, that would be rather dandy...

Best to you, Jen
