Hello all - I am looking at getting an inline coolant heater installed in my 92 delica. I have a mechanic ready to do it I just need to get the actual unit.

If anyone has any advice on where to get one, what model to get, and any other thoughts, that would be great.

I had considered the same thing for my '93 Super Exceed. I ended up going with a magnetic block heater that was recommended by a few people I talked to.

Anyway it's super easy to install and up to now, has worked well. I live in Ontario and the weather hasn't been too harsh. But when it gets below -10 I've used it and my Deli has started with no problems.

Might be easier than an in line coolant heater:)

As far as i know the inline coolant heaters that go into your lower rad hose are not ideal, the thermostat blocks the warm coolant from rising into the block or something like that. I opted for a frost plug block heater and it works great, van starts below -30 no problem. if you are talking about one of those inline recirculating coolant heaters that you plug in, I think you pipe that into the heater core hose somewhere.

As far as brand goes, i would avoid the really cheap stuff. I had a bad experience with a princess auto battery blanket, the wire was not rated for the cold and broke right at the plug, it also shattered when I had to move it in the cold to replace my frozen batteries due to the unserviceable batt blanket. lucky i didn't burn the van down from an electrical fire

Inline coolant heater is a very poor substitute for a block heater. As the warm coolant rises, it goes into the radiator where it cools. With the thermostat closed, there is no thermo-syphoning happening, so very little actually gets heated.

I had one (before anyone figured out what make/model blockheater worked), and it did help. But once I put in a block heater, I noticed a very significant difference.

Spend the money on a block heater. Just as much work to install, and far more effective.

Did you mean a circulation Heater if so it would be ok, but I had Japanoid install what they called a "block heater" and it was a lower rad hose heater which is no good.....CVI installed a true block heater and good starts even at -30.
