Cool air from center vents

So today I start up deli and it was minus 8... Started beautifully then after 1 or so mon of running it was burping and farting and lots of smoke.... That's issue number one... Gonna bump up idle and see how that helps any other input would be great!

Issue number two is a misunderstanding I hope... With heat on and re circ off, engine warm I will get cool air out of the center two vents at chest level. The fresh air button ( I think that's what it's called) is off... Is this a Mitsubishi designe of the HVAC?

The center vents are fresh air vents. These can only be fully closed with the dial under the vent.
I have noted with mine that they don't blow hot air when the heater is on, its usually a few degrees cooler. And when I have the AC on they are a few degrees warmer. My manual dials seem to offer a degree of blending with fresh air. I just close them when its cold and crank up the aux system is the back.

As for the sluggish behavior check you air filter and blow it out. We had a dry summer and the dust plugged mine a couple of times. This worked for me.

Sorry misunderstanding of the post LOL. Yah air filter is good it was replaced in Sept... i might pull off the bus bar and pretty it up see if that has any effect (affect?)

My other idea is that the temp sensor is not kicking it to high idle? the idle is thermostaticly controlled i believe... it seemed to burb and fart when the glow plugs shut off... it may have no clue how cold it really is outside? :o

AC filter? Never knew the L400 had this. I suggested you blow the dust from your engine air filter due to the popping and farting...(gassy little animals the Deli's).

As for temp. sensor: http://www.delica.ca/forum/coolant-temp ... 13742.html

Thanks for the tip on the coolant sensor... i believe there is one that takes into account the ambient temp and then cycles the glow plugs accordingly? not sure of the proper name or location.

If the air filter doesn't work and your problem gets worse it could be your fuel pump seal, mine went on me and I had the same issue, it could also be a glow plug issue.
