I am looking for a block heater for my L400, is there any specific type I should be looking for?

I got mine from Lordco. Can't remember and you need to be a slinky to see it at the back of the engine.

From recollection I think it's this one as that is the number on the box but double check prior to installing it. It should be the brass colored one and not the silver colored one. # 310-0049

There are a few other options that you may want to consider

1) Circulating type coolant heater.
2) Oil pan pad type heater.

The circulating type connects to a heater hose and pumps coolant through the entire system.

The oil pan pad, which is used with a great deal of success by my Pajero buddy in Airdrie, is bonded to the oil pan with the silicone adhesive included in the kit. This heats the oil in the pan within 2 hours and is simple to install....infact both are simple to install. No slinky arm required!

Both options are more costly than the block heater, but if you want efficiency and ease of installation then these 2 options are worth checking into. Check your local Cajun-Tire or auto parts supplier.

Apparently the block heater is a huge pain to install, I have one sitting in the package still because I haven't found someone willing to do it. I bought the biggest oil pan heater I could find last year and it made a world of difference for those -30 mornings.

40mm is the size you need. I can't figure out why people are saying it's so hard to install. If you're ever passing through Manitoba, give me a pm and I can install it for you. Takes about 1 1/2hrs from start to finish. Its one of the easier block heaters to do compared to NA vehicles. You just need to take your vehicle someplace where block heaters are a way of life, and the mechanics are familiar with them.

Apparently the starter and something else have to be removed to gain access to it? Sounds like a good reason to road trip along Superior again...

Since you're in Toronto, you may want to call RightDrive. They're in Vaughan. I haven't personally delt with them, but I know they service and sell JDM's and Delica's.

My van is actually in there for servicing right now, mechanic balked at the block heater. They've had a couple problems with in stock parts but they gave me a loaner car free of charge for what has turned into 6 days which is amazing to me. Great customer service so far, we will see about the work when I get it back. Know of any other shops in the GTA that will work on Deli's?
