Now it's for real:)

Hello all,

So I joined the forum back in September stating I was looking to maybe purchase a Delica....

And then I did. I bought a green '93 Super Exceed with all of the bells and whistles. It only has 72,000 original kms on the clock and it drives out like a dream. I've already fallen in love with it.

I must mention Craig from Bonsai Rides. He's located in London Ontario and this is where I purchased the vehicle. Awesome guy to deal with. Very patient with someone who knows noithing about these vehicles. And an interesting guy too. He's travelled all over and spent some time In Japan and Tokyo. He even speaks and reads Japanese which obviously helps him with such a unique business.

He even called me last night to ensure my trip home was a sucess (had to drive it back to Peterborough some 3 1/2 hours)

Cheers to the forum and everybody on here. I'm mechanically declined so I'm sure this site will be a big help for someone like me.

See you down te road,

Phil

Thanks guys. No name as of yet but I'm working on it... It's such a crazy vehicle. Even has a built in karoke machine built into the rear side console:)

I'll post pics soon

No not yet. I'm installing a new cd player in the front of the van. I'm wondering if that will get it to work.

More importantly, the ice maker works mint!!

And that's what I call prioritizing...

Unfortunately you need the original stereo to make it work. Still, it's a cool party piece. Also, if you look at the female plugs, one is marked "driver" meaning they expect the driver to hold a microphone while driving (road safety at it's finest) :-D

That's classic. Could u imagine getting pulled over and you've got the microphone in you hands singing Dolly Parton's Islands in The Stream?? You'd get a ticket for sure.

I was a VW Westy guy for years and now it's like starting all over again. I thought the L300 model (that looks like a mini bus) was made only until 1993 or 1994. But I was on Rising Sun's webpage and they're showing ones like this up until like 1997? Lots to learn.

Anyway I bought a set of curtains from them and a block heater. I'm worried that this thing won't start in the cold. The other thing I saw was one they had sold with remote entry. Is this common? We get what they call flash freezes here in Ontario where the weather goes from like +10 to -10 in like 24 hours. You wanna get in ur car, then get the hair dryer out to un freeze the lock.

One of my last cars was a VW Eurovan with remote entry. The only car I've ever owned new enough to have this fantastic option. Now I know why I was the only one on my street that couldn't get into his car.

You can get the L300 with minimal changes up until 2007 (manufactured alongside the L400 then the D5) and can still have Korean versions of the same van with essentially the only change being to the body.

Right, the ones I looked at newer than mine, seemed to be pretty much the same overall. I would love the remote entry option though, whatever year that was introduced

Remote entry costs $40. All you need is an actuator under the drivers side door lock. I had mine installed with alarm, turbo timer, remote start and immobilizer for less than $300.

Yeah right on. I'm gonna check into that here in Peterborough. Actually I'm having a new CD player installed tomorrow at this custom shop. I'll see if this place does this sort of stuff as well.

But what if the COP started harmonizing with you? Now that would be something. You know how the RCMP are, breaking into song whilst rhythmically performing the J stroke across the quiet surface of a moonlit lake.... Yeah, I can see the COP breaking in with you, especially if you are singing Dolly Parton, it's a given.
