Is there more WVO Delica's running around out there (Canadian Ah)? Feel like I'm forgotten about someone, but 8's a good number to start with.
Lets see: there Josh,

Adam,

Eric,
No pictures of the green and silver van but he's a great mechanic with nifty setup. Gotta love the smarge (sp) tank and the ideal WVO filler location.

Kev, I searched around but couldn't find the post by the band that converted their Delica to WVO as well. Remember, fiddle, bass... so on... they looked like a fun group. Do you remember who I am talking about?

I feel bad that I haven't finished my conversion yet. But since things are being packed and I'm moving in 2 weeks, it will have to wait till I get re-settled. Hopefully I can set up shop in whatever I get to live in.

I have a full conversion... although in the past couple weeks I havent been running WVO. My wife and I are housewitting so there is no room for processing. Also my van was expiriencing a few high colesterol problems, and I was clogging its arteries. So i gotta get to the bottom of the high fat content, a little more settling will do the trick according to the veg guru (you know who you are!) Anyhow I have never looked at that Diesle secret stuff... it seems to "secretive" for me to trust in my engine. But thats just me, I am not that trusting of products that arent very forthcoming with information, i like the openness of information about WVO.

Happy New year!
Here's a happy new year bump for the "WVO Converted Delica's thread", three plus years later, from oh so not quiet Thailand at New Years.
This list is completely outdated, either the Delica has a new owner or it has joined the scrap yard. Lets even not mention the thirst for power that will leaves the Northern BC boys WVO-less though still driving Delica's.
As I don't stay on top of everything Delica.ca, can't help checking in though as a future Canadian vehicle the Delica is still top of the list, wonder if the number of WVO Delica's is greater than it was 3 years back. This list is also missing some niftly modified WVO Delica, that are still enjoyed by there owners or moved on to new families, shortly after (Afteroil?) this list last saw the light of cathode sources.
Best Regards,
Kev

We are in the south of Chiang Mai, Nong Hoi and Sarphi, but it's a easy town to get around in and we find ourself in different parts of the town often. Not much fun on four wheels, but quick and cheap with two wheels.
Have you booked any fishing trips in Thailand and what kind? I enjoy fishing the north and february will be prime Mahseer fishing on the rivers along the Burmese border. In the northwest here I have plenty of contacts, fishing buddies, and lots of boat options available to me; everything but myself being competent at catching the local fish species - but working on that as much as possible.

well, I bought a small pontoon boat, back pack size when all deflated and am sending that to my friend in bkk, I want to hit several of the fishing parks in bkk for some of those big carp, Im not sure yet if I will just do the one month on arival visa or go for a longer multi entry, I know I want to hit the mekong river and see whats lurking in there and also some rooster fish and marlin off shore, I just got a nice deep sea 2 speed reel I plan to bring with me for the larger ocean fish, and Im planing to bring my steelhead 11ft rod for big lake monsters, its pretty much a month of dedicated fishing and relaxing,
I am mulling around the idea of importing a van to travel around in and leave it there to use when other family is in the country,
but back to fishing,
Im not sure what im planing to do as of yet, I have 2 fishing magazines ariving any day now from bkk, Ive never heard of a bad fishing trip there other than sunburn and leaches lol, so im hoping for a really great trip,
here on the west coast the gov has really cut the quota for Halibut this year and there is talk of a 45 day season that starts on feb 1st so Im here for the first week of that but will be in thailand for the 14th on my birthday , the rest is still in the planing and ideas/skype chat about ideas with some locals in the military there.
what are some sugestions you have?
Noel

Thought of bringing either my fist cat or U boat here but have been talked out of it by all the fisherman I've meet; weather and water temperatures make for uncomfortable day on the water with your feet in it. The parks all have plenty of shade and beer service, and fishing is geared for shore work.
Many friends have enjoyed Buengsamran near Bangkok, but we are all fans of the giant snakehead. The carp are fun but it's the wicked strong cat fish the wear your arms out, always a work out - reminds me how outta of shape I am. Hoping to do that in the next day or two. Here a pic of my son from last month,
From locals it's the GT, giant Trevally, fishing that gets rave reviews as the funnest most plentiful sport fish in the Andaman sea. The hot spot for price and awesome fishing, is the sailfish opportunities out of Malaysia. Saving for that later this year, I can get contacts for you if need be. Not sure how the season is in Feb.
Besides are local fishing ponds, we fish mostly for jungle perch and giant snakehead - though a giant giant has eluded me (
Here's the size I catch). Gotta bring my 11wt Salmon fly rod out here next time, it'd be perfect for both the catfish and the snakehead. It's the Mahseer fishing that has too be tried to be believed. Big fishing names from NA have called them a river fish that's even are more of a spectacular fighting fish than Steelhead. I like the picture below, because this the smallest Mahseer I've caught that fought unbelievably, and caused the 6wt reel to scream for extended moments - unbelievable given the size. More stamina than any fish I've caught before and I've caught a lot of Steelhead, coho, rainbows, bass, etc.
Had plenty of straighten hooks and break offs, using 12lb or heavier tippet, with Mahseer. Here are some youtube links of Mahseer fishing (Won't embed em, to keep things moving);
Was on this trip, and we all saw fish at least double the size of the one Ian is holding. Same trip and stream in the picture above.

Good fishing buddies video of another nice river we/I've returned to several times, including camping river side a few times. Awesome camping area, no bugs and perfect weather.

Same river, had the Thai fellow pictured guide me several times on that same river. At ~$15 Cdn a day for his fee plus $6 a night homestays, rather expensive no?

Go for the visa on arrival, you can always get an extension well your here (Thaivisa.com for info). At the worst, to do so you may have to travel to the Burma border for a exit stamp (which is a interesting trip in itself). In attempts to boast tourism there always extending visa extensions and reducing costs, people live here for years on a visa on arrival. In the north, these border runs put you on the Mekong or Salween rivers.
