Distributor connector

It seems as though after a head gasket replacement by my local Mitsu dealer my 1990 Van LS has a miss. The tech seems to think it is the wiring that comes out of the distributor. So I am in need of the connector or a complete distributor. Any ideas or help?

Is that a spark plug lead the tech is referring to? If so he can check max resistance at 22000 ohms for each lead.

Open the hood at night (with engine running) and look for a light show , sparks jumping to ground from the spark plug wiring or to other plug leads. Run your hand down the wiring and wait for a shock. Another good clue.

Separate the plug wiring if it touches.

Either one of these indicate a need for new plug leads.

Also check the plugs and gap too (.040-.043). Dirty plugs can ground out on carbon tracks running down the side of the plugs. Clean or change the plugs. How are they burning now? All light brown I hope?

Don't replace the dist. until all possibilities have been exhausted. Too expensive... Did he scope test the engine after the gasket change?

Good luck
