Trails in Ontario are secrets guarded closer than the location of the holy grail. Best bet is to get in with a club that is an OF4wd affiliate, pays your moneys, and get access to trail maps and people to wheel with.

I agree they are closely kept secrets, I just despise cash grabs, I dont mind paying a fee to upkeep trails and all that stuff but if the money goes to the govt for some kind of messed up reason then I am against it. Anyone from ONT on here? One of these weekends when its nice enough to do some off roading but not freeze.

It's only $20, and it goes to keeping trails open. Basically, snowmobilers and ATV-ers have organized, and 4x4-ers are trying to do the same. Definitely worth doing.
I'm way down in Niagara, and if you want to talk lack of trails... Brother, you otta come down here.

Is it that difficult to find a logging road in Ontario? Once finding the Forest Service Road (FSR) then one can explore, no? What about going to the library and researching local geographical histories?

Depends on where you are.
There are lots of mile-long mud roads where I am, but they are very torn up by ATV-ers, so they are a long, flat, mudbog. The closest "real" offroading is 3-5 hours north (Barrie/minden). Exploration/Forest service roads/hydro cuts don't really start until you get north of Algonquin.

20 bucks is not bad, but ya the trails here are elusive and are hard to find decent ones. You can try to use cut lines for the power lines but there are so many signs posted about no vehicles it would be impossible to claim ignorance or "I didnt see the sign" plus I do not want to put a sour taste in peoples mouths about 4 wheelin. I have found a few up by alliston, borden but they have been signed since I started going up there. Plus sand is a lil more difficult than mud sometimes. Anyone else on here know of any areas?

hey 92pajero, notice your from edmonton? or are you in ontario? anyway, lots of wheelin spots, and it's such a large province. i'm thinin minden, bobcaygeon, ardbeg, calabogie, there's a few. just get in touch with your local 4x4 clubs. lemme know if and when you want to try some trails, i'm with a toyota and nissan forum as well.
cheers.
and yes, there are logging roads, but you gotta go waaay up north for those, and i'm sure there's a few more secrets here and there.. anyway, wheelin starts in may or sometimes after may 24 so the ground can dry up and harden. lots of squabbling between atv and snowmobilers and trucks from what i've heard. you don't want to ruffle any feathers..
