Ok, I can't seem to get straight info on brake parts... Can I please get some clarity from anyone that's dealt with brakes?

I've got a 90... Are these 1 piston or 2 piston calipers? AND does this make a difference on which rotors and pads you purchase? I think I saw a thread somewhere that said the front is different from the back on these trucks??

I came across this site some time ago and it's been referenced on here as well. Is the 90 the same as 91 for brake parts? If not does someone have the number OR which of these am I using for my 90?? Rotor Part #'s
NAPA
4885926 if equiped with single piston calipers
4886687 early GenII with dual piston calipers
4886690 later GenII no dimensional difference, other than discard specification (minimum thickness) May have something to do with ABS availability, not sure.

Caliper Part #'s

14264009 L dual piston
14264010 R " " These 2 #'s are also a good brake upgrade if you have the single piston's up front. They come with the brackets to direct swap, as well as the pads.

I'm guessing I've got single piston calipers - I haven't seen any info that would tell me otherwise UNLESS Mitsu decided to switch up part way through production (which wouldn't shock me in the slightest)?? Anyone??

Rear... I noticed on the Delica Wiki it talks about drums. I've got disc on mine which brings me to my first post of whether the front is identical to the rear when it comes to the disc system?

This is what you need:

If you have dual piston fronts: 1992-1994 Mitsubishi Montero 3.5 SR V6 model application

If you have single piston fronts: 1989-1990 Mitsubishi Montero 3.0 V6 model application

It is in Napa, Lordco, Canadian Tire, etc.. parts system

Montero = Pajero

Do not go by Delica part numbers. Not all of them are the same as your Paj.

I've got a Gen 1 '90...I'm going with the single piston.

I don't know what it's like in BC but I've asked Canadian Tire here [and I think Auto Value as well] and they said they couldn't find Montero's in their system. I'll try Napa...someone has to have Montero.

sounds like the kid behind the counter didn't want to do their job!

Napa has Montero in Canada as Napa Canada is linked to Napa USA (montero's are everywhere).

If you have a Gen 1, I'd recommend to only use the year 1989 Montero V6 3.0L. That is the surefire part for part swap. 1990 is when Montero's in the US switch from Gen 1 to 2.

Ok so I'm coming across parts with one exception...

The '89 Montero has rear drums...at least according to the systems and obviously the Paj has rear discs.

Do the front pads fit the rear as well? That would be way simple!

89 front - use V6 model
90 rear - use SR V6 model

Ok...some things worked and others didn't.

Front brakes - 1989 Montero works for both pads and rotors. Good news my fronts were fine so I just took the brakes back.

Rear brakes - 89-91 Montero are drums. 92 Montero's were fitted with discs. I Didn't try the rotors themselves as they weren't part of my purchase and I didn't feel like doing another round trip. The rear pads don't fit. They're very close but millimetres off so they're a no go.

Does anyone know if the rear rotors for the 92 Montero fit the Paj?

Ok...Brake saga is over.

Here's what my findings have been.

Got some rear pads/rotors from a Mitsu parts supplier. The pads looked identical to the ones I got from Napa to match a 92 Montero.

Pads : The difference this time (seemingly - only because I took the others back)...we took out the little steel clips that would serve to hold the pads more firmly in place. I'm guessing if we did that before the Napa ones would have fit. The shape of the pads from the Paj supplier are slightly different then the ones we replaced which looks like an older design. The new design sit 'fairly' well without the little clips - time will tell.

Rotors : From the parts supplier...way too thick especially while trying to create space for the new pads. I recall looking at the ones from Napa - opting not to buy them because they looked to thick and looked the same as the ones I received. Now to be sent back. Telling me I'm not sure what I'll do when the rear rotors on this thing go...

So I have a '90 Pajero and just done up the brakes and shocks. I ordered pads for a '92 Montero and I ground off the little clips and they fit great. I also ordered shocks from '92 Montero and perfect fit. All this was purchased from Rockauto you jusT have to drive acroSs the border to get the cheap shipping. Heres what I purchased. 4 Gabriel shocks, pads all around, 3 filters for my Mit Outlander, 2 filters for my Bobcat, 2 filter for my daughters yaris, 1 filter for 60hp Merc outboard. Total inc. shipping $133. No taxes or anything at the border. BARGAIN!!!
