regarding just about anything, within reason. Courtesy is always called upon. Site rule 1.1.1 still applies ~ no slagging or slander. What goes on in the Last Word Café, stays in the Last Word Café.
Object of this exercise is to see who gets the last word in. Edgewise scores more points.
Falco.
P.S.: I would like to acknowledge Nitty's Coffee/Chocolate/Milo Lounge from Delica Club Australia for the idea.
The object of this exercise has brought out the hostile and bad in almost everyone participating.
It feels as if this was a psychological experiment gone sour and is evident that What goes on in the Last Word Café, stays in the Last Word Café does not happen.
This thread has served no purpose other than to create animosity amongst the members as courtesy was thrown out the window last year and never recovered.
Every time the Last Word Cafe comes up on view active topics, the automatic reaction is "what *&$^%#$ is going on now". Being a sticky doesn't help either that it's at the very top.
If you want to yak, we have the general topic area where we talk about anything and everything non-delica related and it works very well.
I respect Falco and everything he has done for this community and forum and see the initial good intention of this thread when it was created. Trying to control the emotions and what people say into one thread like this just isn't working the way it was intended.
I respectfully request that you guys removed this thread from this forum.

I agree.
We should have a fully off-topic section like most other forums do in order to keep the noise from creeping into other threads. Civility, however, should be enforced.

Hey,
Maybe have a separate flame and fight thread...
maybe call it "Battle Royal"
Then myself or the likes Golf Cart,Psilosin and others
could add glib sarcastic comments and obscure pop culture references
and it would become "Battle Royal with Cheese"
Losers of flame battles have to buy cinnamon buns at the next Ikea meet
and rub Aloe Vera on their bumper because they "got burned" ,
then we laugh, dig our vans and each other, forgive forget and
crown the next Drama Queen.
Right On!

Very well put. Made me chuckle- and I dig the pulp fiction reference. I always use the "Do you think pot bellies are sexy?" line on my wife. Works best when you try to imitate the voice as well.

Why not just unsticky the thread and let it die

The Last Word Cafe was originally introduced because of a membership request for a "water cooler" style thread that one could talk about anything and everything without having to be about Delicas. Lately it has become the preferred location for arguments. When time becomes more available we are planning to weed the slagging matches out. It has also become the receptacle for discussions that have inadvertently threadjacked other topics. In this respect it would be known in other forums as the "sin bin", although this was never the original intention.

I'd still like an 'Off-topic' sub-forum regardless what happens with LWC thread. That where posts like 'Oil on Sale at Cdn Tire' or 'Look at my baby pictures' type of posts go. A single water cooler thread is not as refreshing as a water cooler sub-forum.

A single thread is extremely unusual for a forum, and it makes individual conversations nearly impossible as different conversations on varied topics can't flow well. Many forums have a never-ending-thread as a lark, but generally these are not used as a primary off topic area.
I agree, an off topic area would allow for conversations that don't belong in any other part of the forum, and help keep the social aspect of things here. After all, where would we discuss a show such as "The Walking Dead" for example?

That is a good idea, in fact I have been talking with Mark on this one. To create a "LWC Forum", this way we can separate the baby pictures from the friendly disputes ~ and ~ isolate the forum from VAT so there is no excuse for people going there and getting accidentally offended.

Thanks for listening Falco & Mark.
A name change would be appropriate as who gets in the last word encourages nipping.

Why don't we just all grow up and act like adults so there doesn't need to be a designated area for poo-flinging?
