High beam modification

anyone modify their high beam to take a twin element bulb? this way the high beam works with low and high beam in conjunction with the projector low beams.

Better do a tally of how many amps you will be drawing as to not over burden your factory wire!

that is an obvious concern but can be remedied quite easily.
just wondering if anyone has used this method to gain better low beam lighting.

You could also put HID bulbs in your low beam position. Probably easier to do, and wouldn't have everyone in sight thinking you have your high beams on.

I fitted LED bulbs that i got from ebay much better only a few pounds sellers name -ntxmas http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170761860434? ... 3D1&_rdc=1

thanks guys, i am aware of the LED's, HID's and higher wattage light bulb in the projectors. just wanted to see if anyone had modified the high beams for dual beam.
I dont see how having 2 sets of low beams is going to make everyone in sight thinking i have my high beams on. you cant change stupid if someone thinks "holy shit, that guy has 4 lights on, they must be high beams even though they are not blinding me".

High beams are aimed differently, they point into the oncoming traffic as well as the vehicle in front. This happens regardless whether you are burning high wattage or lower wattage bulbs, the other driver is distracted. You would need to redirect your beam, would you not? If you do that then wouldn't you lose the benefit of the high beams for when you need them?

that depends on the light housing, hence my original question. of course it would have to be reaimed .
a normal high beam does not point into oncoming traffic like you are suggesting. not sure where this came from.
on regular twin filament bulbs the filaments are leading each other at a specific spacing apart, this small distance changes the focal point on the mirror reflector giving you your high and low beam out of the same light housing. the light is aimed as per regulations, but putting on the high beam does not magically aim the light into oncoming traffic, the focal point change puts the light beam higher off the road surface, i think the reason it also shines into oncoming traffic is that the high beam reflection is now above the point of the lens distorsion that angles the beam away from the lefthand side.

Reza, I haven't heard of anyone testing out a dual filament bulb in there.
You seem to have a better understanding of this than the armchair quarterbacks.
Only one way to find out. When you do, please post your results and how, if any the beam pattern differs from the conventional single filament HB light.
