The other day I tried to get the tape/radio player working in my van, I found a 5 amp blown fuse, so i replaced it and it started working. but when I was driving the next day and tuned my head lights on, there were no night time dash lights coming on. looked for a blown fuse, cant find one, the normal buzzing sound that indicated the headlights are on, when the van is off, dose not work ether. anyone have an idea what I should look for? I should add that I have had resent electrical problems with wind shield wiper system. Thanks Jesse

You can look for common issues:
DRL relay or how it is wired up. can cause problems.
Wiper electrical issue and now this one points to the headlight/wiper combo switch. They are known for failure.
Jay (tardisdeli) is the L300 eletrical guru and should have the best insight to get you going.

If you are behind the dash already it's highly recommended to upgrade the stock wiring as it's quite pitiful.

Are your running/marker lights working/not working also? If they are also not working then its probaly a dying headlight switch. If the headlight switch is hooped try turning on your foglights in the mean time to get the marker/running lights working untill you get the headlight switch fixxed. Cheers Jay Tardis Deli

since you fixed the radio...lots of radios use the power from dash lights to tell the radio to dime the display at night...did you check for a blown fuse for the dash lights and I would pull the fuse to the radio just to check... could be a poorly wired stereo or defective stereo....

Good point. do you know where the dash light fuse could be? I checked the fuse box and no blown fuses, I will pull the stereo out and take a good look. Thanks.

there is a fuse box right under the driver steering.
check in there.
if fuse box is all ok , then ur combination swtch is gone.
new combination swtch go from 450new to 200 used
did replace many of those. but when u need drl, chnage it wiht the led dont
hook it up with thru the headlight system as they are bad for burning the switch.
wont cost you to much on led drl.

So I found a brand new switch (wiper/lights) and installed it. But it did not fix my electrical problem, still no dash lights and wiper fuse still blowing. its a nice switch though, coast me $220 and its a left hand type.

lights are back on! After all that, it was the horn fuse, funny I thought I checked that one.
Now I just have the wiper electrical problem to solve. Where the fuse just blows when the key is turned to accessory befor even starting. I did have a bit of a windshield leek, water was dripping
down just above the fuse box. I did see there are 4 switch/relays in that spot. Maybe I
Should check there. I think one of them might be for the rear wipers.
Thanks for all the help
Jesse.
