Hello all, we just purchased our 1994 Green Delica Exceed Space Gear on Monday. We plan to convert it in the next few days to run on veggie oil. We currently have a partial supply (locally) from our town's only fast food restaurant but will be looking for other supply from Kamloops, BC. We are going to drive the Delica to Ontario in December to visit my husband's family (his username is northriver). We've made this trip before, first in 2003 in our Nissan Frontier and in 2008 in our Honda CRV, which we are currently selling. This is a family project. Our three kids are all on board to help with the conversion and upgrades we think we need and to try to enlist the help of friends, family and strangers for an oil supply along the way. We are blogging about it on our earthship site (house built from tires and pop cans)
www.darfieldearthship.com We are hoping for lots of advice and encouragement. I'm sure we will have lots of questions after we've perused the site more thoroughly!

Cheers and welcome,
Enjoyed following the building of your Earthship during its construction, I had your construction photos up on the big screen for a morning meeting just a few months ago.
Have fun with the conversion.

I've been following your earthship build for a while now. My family would like to build something similar but I have concerns about the fridged temperatures during Manitoba winters.
Welcome to the forum. The members here are a wealth of information and advise for your new rig!

Cool. We realized our site was well read but it's always neat to see exactly who has been following. Our plans to buy a Delica have been in the works since spring (we blogged about it then) but our circumstances finally allowed us to commit to it this fall. As you may know, we're not actually finished our earthship, but hope to complete it by end of next year. It was either finish it over winter or start this other wild and crazy project with the Delica...

Trigger you should speak to Chris about the cold climate issues...we have quite cold weather here in the North Thompson, too. Somebody from Manitoba interviewed Chris for their thesis about earthships in Manitoba...where in Manitoba are you located? We'll be driving the Delica on the Trans Canada in Manitoba in 5-6 weeks.
