My first thought is the intake manifold, something blocking? What's happening with the turbo?

I would do a visual. You say that she's not getting air? My first suspicion would be a blockage somewhere along the intake. I would pull the seat out and remove the hatches and check for blockages. Perhaps the first thing to check is the air filter itself before you pull the seat out.

Check you have fuel at the injectors when it cranks. Is the fuel stop solenoid clicking when ignition comes on?

Crack open one of the injector lines and crank it over. It should be spitting diesel out. If it's not you have blockage.
If it is spitting diesel, the nozzles may be clogged at the tip of the injectors.
Did you stop on wvo?

i mean there is no air bleeding in to the fuel lines.

i cannot hear the fuel solenoid, or feel anything there, but it is getting power. like i said there is fuel coming out the return line from the pump, does this not indicate that the pump is working?

moi, stop on wvo? so far i havent yet allowed turtle to cool down with wvo inthe injectors. it fired once this morning and ran until i took my foot off the throttle. its maybe not a minor detail, but i have been troubleshooting an air leak in the wvo system (i tracked it down to the FM100 filter housing, i think) yesterday afternoon, the motor seemed to want to quit like it did this morning, but i didnt let it.

It's my understanding the stop solenoid stops it coming out of the main body and entering the injectors, because the stop solenoid is right there in the 4 way output thingy to the injectors. I could be wrong though, if I'm not, then the pump will spin quite happily while cranking, lifting fuel from the tank and pumping it back, just nothing comes out of the injectors. Crack and injector and see, you should have good flow there.

you may be correct. ill crack an injector a little later this morning, when its light. if its true that the solenoid is malfunctioning that will be my second (different pumps) making me a very lucky guy

Check or replace your FUEL RETURN VALVE-2ND AIR SOLENOID first before replacing pump.
You may try a used one from ccautos.

Ari
I'd crack one of the injectors and see as per above.

i went out to put the battery back in and first thing was to crack an injector. while fussing with the battery cables, lo and behold, i noticed a wire that powers the WVO valve had become loose from the relay. no power to valve=no fuel can pass. i put it all back together and it started and ran fine! i DID check if there was power to the valve in my original trouble shooting and it DID have power... the wire was touching, so i guess the vibrations made it work only sometimes. thank goodness it was in fact something simple, sorry to bother you all, carry on
