Need to replace asap my overstretched old cable for parking brake / handbrake / emergency brake. Need a L300 1991 part number. Is there a Lordco part? Have searched this forum, no luck. Best reply gets homemade cookies next time we meet. Cheers, Christine.

From what I've read on the UK forum it sounds like an overstretched cable just needs a simple adjustment to be used again. Are you sure you need a new cable?

Hiya Nick, Sir Jay of the TardisDeli has tightened the rear cable several times, to take the slack out of the cable. Now, I can drive with the handbrake on, with no effect on driving (just makes the brake pedal activate at only half way depressed). So I guess it's time (I know I have had the van 4 years, and it was not replaced on entry into Canada). Cheers, Christine. PS You get cookies for first reply, still someone gets to win cookies for best answer.

Ah, gotcha! Does this help at all? ... http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carco ... ttype,1696

It looks like a good source but I'm having a little bit of trouble reading it.

Hi Nick, interesting site.
Yeah, hard to translate. You selected "1990 : MITSUBISHI : L300 : 1.6L 1597cc L4 Carb : Brake/Wheel Hub : Parking Brake Cable" as an example.
I think ours are "1991 : MITSUBISHI : L300 : 2.5L 2477cc L4 DIESEL Turbo [4D56T] : Brake/Wheel Hub" (my translation is Carb equals carbeuretter, versus MFI equals fuel injection, but we have turbo diesel ... 4D56T is the name of our engines. However, when I went into that, I found no list of parking brake cables like you had found (with their length given in metric ie 1250 etc)..are you able to find it?. So it is a good site for the HUGE list of every type of vehicle and parts with measurements, great site to bookmark. Thanks, Christine.

I was hoping there would be a crossover between models but as I've never even adjusted mine I have no idea. Here's another site I found...
