uhaul booking

Post by pajeroo »

Just wondering how to go about booking a uhaul trailer to tow a car. There is no option for a L400 delica in their online dropdown list of mitsubishi vehicles.

I would be inclined to tell them it's a mitsubishi montero. :?

You have a 1995 Mitsubishi Pajero which is the equivalent to a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero 3.5V6 SR model.

What exactly are you planning to tow with and what will you be towing on the cart?

I have to tow my race car to the track and back pretty frequently. Not sure how a delica is gonna sit with uhaul. I also rent their trailers quite frequently. So ill need the delica to be 'uhaul compatible'

If it's an L300, then towing anything above 2,000lbs can be sketchy due to the short wheelbase of the Deli. How much are you planning to tow ?

Your Pajero will tow much better over 2k than the L300. If you are using it dedicated for towing over 2k, I would suggest to use the Paj (LWB).

For reference, I towed a modded XJ at 3,800lbs+1,100lbs trailer from Van down to San Diego and back with our 2.5 LWB Pajero and it was fine under 100km/hr.

did you have trailer brakes? thats a mighty large load.
In my strada, i've towed 1900lbs including trailer and about 1000lbs in the cabin/truck box, and I definitely felt that weight coming across canada. The hills in BC were the killer, flats in the prairies no problem. anything larger than that, i'd be wanting trailer brakes. just my 2 cents.

I believe the U-Haul car trailers weigh about 2200 lbs on their own. I considered towing my Citroen (1200lb) with Delica and U-Haul, but the trailer alone is just to heavy to consider the prospect.

Rik in Maple Ridge (not a member on the forum) hauled with the 5x8' utility one from Maple Ridge to Penticton in an L400 LWB.

1994 Mitsubishi Montero 4WD is the classification he used.

thanks jfarsang thats probably the only way it can be done. I'm guessing insurance wont be covered in case you get into an accident.
